  1. Depression: an INT thing?

I will give my take on depression and being an INTP. I just realized that I have had a depressive pattern of thinking all my life. There have been good and bad moments until I was in my third year at university that my mood took a turn down. Initially, it never felt like being in a bad state of...
  2. INTP humor

The proportion of INTPs is higher amongst men than women. That made me think whether I have encountered any INTP woman in my life. I think not. INTPs are known as chameleon and tend to blend in to the local environment so maybe they are just hiding. I found some INTP women on Youtube. I also...
  3. About you?

What is your name? My name is Secret. Where are you from? Sweden How old are you? I am in my mid-thirties. What's your gender? Male How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type? I came across MBTI when doing some random non-Google search. This is my most accurate "diagnosis"...
  4. Last movie you watched

Imsonia, both the US (2002) and the Scandinavian version (1997). I cannot say that one film was better than another. They were both good but in different ways. If you like adrenalin, watch the US version. If you prefer that psychological conflicts reflect social conflicts and other hidden...
  5. You know you're an Intp when...

I am James Bond and Sherlock Holmes combined. When I came across the term schizophrenia, it sounded familiar. I was scared. I need one big fat cigar once a year. I want to do more than merely assassinate Hitler. Well, it does turn out though that global warming is happening and smoking...
  6. You know you're an Intp when...

I feel compelled to understand the inner logic of everything that I come across, which is sometimes a complete waste of time. This is the unobvious secret of inferior Fe: you feel that you must meet people sometimes, but you do not understand social codes. Right on the spot. We INTPs are...
  7. You know you're an Intp when...

I recognize this one. I always had an urge to correct teachers and textbooks.
  8. A proposal for the problem of INTP laziness

Oh, there is more ... 4. Make of list of possessions There is the old tip of making a list of things to do. This is helpful, but mainly for Js, and less for Ps, I presume. I tried a variation of this for Ps: make a list of things that you own. All possessions are listed by group. What I own...
  9. A proposal for the problem of INTP laziness

I find it hilarious when I read a post such as this one: But as a perceiver, how do you choose which goal is the most important one? I will try to bring some practical tips into this thread. I find ironic that we INTPs often identify the problem but fail to come up with a solution. We rely on...
  10. Tips to improve your MBTI functions

After reading this thread "What additional function would you like to have in your stack?" (http://www.intpforum.com/showthread.php?p=476707), I came up with the idea to make a list of tips of how to improve your MBTI functions. Please come up with your own suggestions!!! I am finding it hard...
  11. The Difference: T and F Types and Reacting To Emotions

I see what you mean. Ti-Fe makes assumptions of the whole from the parts and fails to spot individual discontent amongst an ocean of perceived happiness. Te-Fi is authoritarian sometimes, at least my INTJ dad is. You are right. As an INTP, I react to Fe. I cannot control it. I can control it...
  12. How to make new friends as an INTP?

Absolutely, use Ne and Fe generally. Use Ti and Si as well to engage the whole function stack. I find it hard to meet people and get friends. I try to join organizations or clubs where I can meet people on basis of common interests.
  13. The Difference: T and F Types and Reacting To Emotions

I wonder how Fi and Fe are different to reacting to emotions when they have the same location in the functional stack. What happens when an INTP vs an ENTJ get angry or afraid (inferior F)? INTJ vs ENTP? (ter F) INFJ vs ENFP? (aux F) ENFJ vs INFP? (dom F) (Sorry if my question is off-track...
  14. The ideal INTP career

Oh, the next Stieg Larsson. ;)
  15. The ideal INTP career

Ideal INTP careers for me are computer scientist, mathematician, or engineering. In particular, I would strive to do something 'dumb' just for attention to satisfy my Fe. But if people like good storytellers, then who has got the right to complain apart from NTJs with a strong Te.
  16. Depression: an INT thing?

I will tell my own story. My dad is INTJ and mum is INTP. My dad used to have badly developed Fi and shouted at me when I grew up. Both my parents are loners and have only a few old friends. They moved to a small town of about 75,000 inhabitants where I later grew up. They did never make any...
  17. What additional function would you like to have in your stack?

I want more Ni to plan my time better. I have a love-hate relationship with Ne. On the one hand it, it is a great idea factory. It can be used with Ti to find solutions to problems, or with Fe to make jokes on the fly. On the other hand, it is annoying when you get off-track from the intended...
  18. List of things that really should get done (but haven't)

    - Vacuum the flat - Write code for my online open-source software project - Write birthday messages on Facebook - Fill my empty refrigerator - Write an inventory of all my possessions (I cannot find my stuff)
  19. Losing your passport

My passport happened to vanish when I was on a trip in Germany. I was traveling with a friend and we were planning on going to Switzerland. But since Switzerland is not a member of the EU, you need a passport to enter so we had to skip it. It was no problem traveling back to Sweden by train...
  20. Are you lonely?

I have had periods in my life when I was lonely and semi-depressed. My black moods arise when there is nothing intelligent to do or discuss. I managed to solve it step by step, so now I am only alone, not lonely.
  21. when you're old

I want to be a comedian. Engaging TI, NE and FE is fun and engages the entire brain for us INTPs. I enjoy vile, Pythonesque sarcasm and irony.
  22. How fast do you eat?

I eat in 10-15 minutes. Today, a lot of people eat by themselves and food is quick to cook. Before industrialization, it took longer to cook food and eating was a communal event. Talking slows down the eating process.
  23. Ages of Users Here

I am in my mid-thirties now. I have learnt things the hard way. It is not easy being an INTP in society of today. But I enjoy it now. :)
