Default Reddit.com

I've known about this site for a while now, but I've only recently started checking it daily and created my own account. They talk about stories from around the world as they happen, and it truly displays the speed of the internet. It's a remarkable community, and I suspect a large minority of these nerds are INTPS. Join us!

Yes. I know many INTP's engaged in that site. Some ISTJ's too.

I don't share the same fascination though.

Interesting, I found the site today, and wanted to join it, but was skeptical if I would find it interesting. I think I will join the site now..

On a side note, I recently got rid of my FB site cuz I thought it was useless. After awhile there, I didn't see a point in it.. rather than useless blabber.. and multiple messages demanding my attention.

I love this site, but it certainly doesn't help with my procrastination issues =D. Reddit is like having the entire internet conglomerated at one source. There is a *sort* of political agenda "hive-mind" if you will- it's actually quite fascinating to see what sort of things get upvoted/downvoted. An interesting community for sure.

Joined 5 minutes ago. It's quite fascinating. But internet is internet and no matter what the content or the people the same "no rules" rule applied. And I can't seem to find porn on this page which puts into question if this is just an internet page. What am I talking about here anyway?

Eh, I don't like reddit. A bunch of overused unfunny Internet Memes to me. It's about as interesting as funnyjunk and 9gag to me, but what really annoys me is when they put th word "le" in a comic. It makes them sound like uneducated hipsters who think they are cool, thus the comic is unfunny. Damn it, I didn't want to do that, but I did it.

It's not completely about memes and jokes. There are actually subreddits with intelligent discussions.

Stumbleupon is like automated reddit without having to see the annoying comments.

Sometimes I like the comments, provided it's easy enough to skip past the inane and irrelevant ones and find the few that actually contribute something to discussion. The slashdot moderation system works pretty well (you can set it to only show comments with a certain ranking or higher); it isn't perfect, and filters out some good while voting up some bad, but overall I think it trends towards improvement.

That aside though, I never use reddit, unless someone links to it.

Reddit is AMAZING, though I haven't been in forever. I love going to the TIL subreddit, I scroll through way too many pages of that. The political subreddits are interesting too.

Reddit is possibly one of my favorite places. I've recently found /r/bioethics and /r/neuropsychology, along with some other philosophy subreddits. The science portion is also extremely interesting, and there are some pretty smart people on there. Not all memes and jokes.. in fact, far from it (:

Also, just discovered UReddit and signed up for a creative writing class. This place... yes.

This is more what reddit is about for me. I am annoyed by the influx of circlejerk memes and crap like that. I always notice the 'funny' section of reddit gets a lot of upvotes, which I think is a shame, because I'm more interested in the politics and world events sections, which I think reddit should be upvoting because the site can be a tool for social awareness.

I agree with the meme overkill and emphasis on subreddits like r/funny and r/atheism (which is 90% rage replies on facebook), but I completely disagree with turning reddit into a tool different than it already is. I mean, the subreddits that house world events and "important" topics are out there, for the people who are interested in keeping up with such things. But reddit prides itself in being as hands-off in its community as it can be--that's what makes it such a compelling place. You can't simply choose which events or stories demand the attention of the entire site--that's what sites dedicated to breaking news are supposed to do, and a dynamic like that would absolutely break reddit.

That said, reddit does keep me significantly more up-to-date on current events than almost anything else, and I'm not subscribed to subreddits specifically for news.

Check out the small but growing INTP subreddit. We're the MB type group with the highest amount of readers.

To the naysayers put off by memes and stupid internet crap, you can unsubscribe from the default subreddits and subscribe to decent discussions. Check out groups like /r/technology, /r/science, /r/scifi/, and use the SubReddit Finder for specific interests.

I have to say reading things like this and other similar accounts makes me even less interested in Reddit. The other reasons being the simplistic look, hectic pace of traffic and post hierarchy I'm not really accustomed to.

The frontpage of reddit is usually pretty bad, though you can find a few interesting subreddits if you search hard enough.

Here are a few of my favorites:

http://www.reddit.com/r/WeAreTheMusicMakers/
http://www.reddit.com/r/IWantToLearn/
http://www.reddit.com/r/LucidDreaming/
http://www.reddit.com/r/teslore/
