So, I think the biggest thing that precludes me from being INTP is the fact that I make a lot of the decisions in my life based on if it feels right or not. Normally this comes with troubleshooting/problem solving, but it also applies to what I'm going to do, sometimes I just don't feel like doing things, or I get an urge to do certain things, and it annoys me when I can't. Sometimes I want to read a book, but it has to be a certain genre, and if I can't find one that fits, I'll just end up doing something else entirely, and be slightly frustrated with it.

The word "feel" can be confusing.
The Jungian word Feeling is about what others (your group, your culture) would think. That's why they renamed it to Ethics in Socionics. A pure feeler would like a song if he liked the group identity of it (like/dislike as in love/hate) A pure thinker would like a song if he liked the skills/technique of the musicians. (apathic like/dislike) Feelers take themselves down for love/hate. Like groupies sacrificing themselves for the music (love). Or hooligans sacrificing themselves (getting damaged) to beat up the other team (hate). Thinkers never take themselves down, they dont sacrifice themselves for either love or hate. use this to determine whether you are a feeler or a thinker. |

As Schopenhauer noted, the term feeling is used for just about any cognitive process which isn't strictly Thinking, though I can't remember how Thinking was defined. This makes it confusing of course when a more specific meaning is needed.
As I see it, Thinking is about making comparitive judgments, e.g. does this fit this rule, does it have this property, whereas Feeling is making a judgment of something in itself, i.e. getting a "Feel" for it. Feeling in this sense may or may not apply to the OP.
