All good music invokes emotion and/or moods.

It does not have to be good.... even crappy music for me invokes emotions and moods, but these emotions are not positive!

I cry during certain songs in operas, but that may be because of the performance not the music itself, or most likely a combination of both.

Upbeat music makes me happy, it's an instant effect.

Good point. Some music makes me feel annoyed or angry.

Well, it has been called the universal language. Maybe there's something to that. It really transcends a lot of boundaries, or maybe that's just because it affects us so much in the first place.

It is one of the universal experiences, to my knowledge.

When I'm feeling down (which is very common lately) I love listening to saddening music , usually pertaining to love or relationships. My favourites are acoustic indie/folk groups, such as: City & Colour, The Weakerthans, The Early November and some of Against Me!'s lighter stuff.
