Why did you have to revive these threads? I thought for a moment that Seducer had returned :(

Holy Shit, yes.

Bloodbath. Finntroll. Katatonia (earlier stuff, not so much later, but I really like the later stuff too). Amon Amarth.

haha I actually like the old better too, but the newer stuff is considered groovy melodeath

I might have posted this in that other thread, but this band is too fuckin OG to miss here

Death - Trapped In A Corner - YouTube

Also stylistically kinda reminds me of that At the Gates style in a few ways

Speaking of progressive groovy death with melody
This is what I'm personally in love with, though is pretty alternative (very NT ...probably decoding schizoid INTJ worldview-metal, to make the closest comparison)

My all time favorite song: The Mars Volta -Frances the Mute's Missing track (b-side)

It's about Frances, Vismund Cygnus's mother, introducing her character before the story begins on their album Frances the Mute of Vismund Cygnus's story of looking for his lost mother who was raped by priests where Vismund was born(theorized).

This thread is amazing. This is exactly the kind of music I like.

I'm into instrumental/prog/technical melodic death metal recently. The thing that often annoys me is their vocals, their instrumentals are perfect but they could shut up once every while to allow me to better appreciate their sound.

Most of them can't sing or growl, they barely manage to be average and their monotonous aggressive sound is boring.
