Greetings from Egypt.
I've been lurking around the forum for the past 5 months after taking an mbti test & reading the description for my type ; I was amazed at how accurate it described me , it litteraly knew stuff me that I didn' t know about myself.
Then I found this forum & after reading the you know you're an intp when... thread I immediately signed up as I was really happy to finally find out that there are people really like me bec prior to that I was starting to feel really different from all the people around me & I would never find someone who could really get me ; but after signing up & reading some of the posts around here, it was like I'm in heaven as I have never met an Intp in real life (& especially here in Egypt) . It took me 5 months to write my first post as I was really hesitant to do so ( maybe cause i'm 95 % Introverted) . Anyways I hope this isn't too long .
I'm interested in music(esp metal & hard rock) ,playing guitar & singing , philosophy, reading.
P.S.:If you have any questins regarding Egypt or Islam I would be really happy to answet them
Thanks.

Welcome! (and no, it's not too long. You should see some of mine :D)

Please feel free to explore the music subforum. I'm curious which groups you listen to.

What's the current status of your government stability? I haven't heard much about it here in the U.S. recently.

I listen to a lot of thrash, you know the big 4 (Metallica is my fav band ever) as well as some of the new thrash bands( Tantara Havok Hatchet) Motorhead BFMV and some Nickelback.
As for our gov, we're in deep shit! tge muslim brotherhood and the salafis are ripping the country and the people are boiling with anger. it's only a matter I guess before the next revolution erupts and this time it will be massive.

Heh.. ah, fair enough. In relation to your personal beliefs..

actually the term islamic is always related to the political islamists like muslim brotherhood and salafis and ironically they are the worst presentation of islam they are like europe in the middle ages with the church and all that and they use islam as a cover to everything wrong they do and to fool people .All the muslims who are not in some kind of political movement would like to be called just muslims bec there is no such thing as islamic and I assure that this term will soon be history
thanks

Well now, I was not aware it had that kind of strict association. Is that the typical perception in the Middle East? The word itself, detached from meaning, is merely the adjective of Islam, just meaning Muslim or of or relating to or supporting Islamism (in English anyway). I presumed it could be related to different things such as culture or language as well as religion, thus your asking for clarification.
Interesting to know that perception though.

Why will the term soon be history?

In most muslim countries people wouldn't call someone islamic unless it's in a political meaning especially after the arab spring but prior to that the term was used to describe some authors & philosophers who wrote about islamic history & were defending islam in their writings & had a proper knowledge of the history of muslims like the great muslim scientists & philosophers like averroes or avicenna.
If by islamic you meant interested in muslim history & the proper islam teachings then yes I am islamic :)

Ah sorry bro, I wasn't aware of that. I thought it just a generic term.

That was pretty much it :)

Welcome @etreby7

I am curious, if you don't mind my asking, what it is like to live in a country in the midst of revolution.
Do you have to watch your words? Is dissenting political speech safe?
On a side note, is the internet censored?
Does life continue mostly as normal from day to day, or are there many roadblocks (speaking figuratively, though I suppose possibly quite literally too)?
If it is safe for you to say, where do you stand on the revolution? and what will/can you do if things don't go your way?

PS I understand if you don't wish to respond to any of this. :)

I'm glad to answer it :D

In the fourth day of the revolution , prisons were opened & the thugs & thieves were let loose in the streets ,so all the men had to stay in the streets catching those thugs by ourselves as the police had retreated & we were let with no police for about two weeks , but it's a bit better now (although still a long way) .
As for the freedom of expression, actually it's a lot more safe compared to before the revolution , people are really starting to get interested in politics & starting to express themselves freely , but in the last 10 months since the muslim brotherhood & their allies arrived to the presidency , it's started to become a lot like the situation before the revolution , as the protesters are being shot & arrested during the protests & political figures are being investigated , so we basically removed a tyrant only to bring another one , but with a beard .
A for the internet , yes it's censored , it's always been & I think countries most do that for security reasons , but we really don't give a shit anymore :D especially after the revolution , we kind of broke the fear barrier , or whatever it's called .
& soon I guess , you will about another revolution , but this time it will be huge & it's once & for all . :)

Hello, hello! I'm new here, too. Glad to see the forum is still attracting new members.

I'm curious as to what operating system you use. I've gotten used to seeing who uses what under their post count, but yours is unknown.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate ;)

Interesting. In the U.S. there is growing concern about what some call the "prison industrial complex" wherein prisons are essentially serving as a modern form of slave labor and many laws for otherwise minor offenses are being structured in such a way to increase incarceration rates and target those in low income areas, especially minorities. While the release of prisoners obviously added a bit of turmoil to the situation, I also wonder how many of them will successfully reintegrate into society, given their second chance. Different societies deal with offenders very differently (compare, for instance, Sweden, the U.S., and Iran). I wonder what the best solution is?

Well , here in Egypt , most of the prisoners who escaped , turned themselves in or were captured & put back in jail . Ironically , one of the prisoners who escaped during the unrest became the president (BIG MISTAKE) & a lot of jihadis who escaped are now freely wandering in Sinai & committing terrorist acts like kidnapping soldiers & bombing state buildings & stuff .

he was always considered the n.1 archeologist in egypt ,
after the revolution there were some rumors about him trafficking some monuments but nothing was confirmed , so i guess he‘s still well respected.
