INTP is supposed to be the most logical type but two types of logic exist deductive (INTP) and inductive (INTJ). With deductive I am more likely to use it than inductive. But I am not good at math. Nor am I good at building systems, working memory is poor.

The only thing about me that relates to INTP is that I think alot. INTJ strategize, I simply ponder.

I decided that I am not INFJ because I do not have insights as Ni would be. I have had aha moments before so I know how Ni experiences things and it is not me. I do not "realize" things often enough to be INFJ.

It has been a long time but I now think I am INTP. I would like your opinions. thanks.

Personally, I'm beginning to think that constantly questioning whether you're really an INTP is a legitimate indicator that you are.

It's like: "I have a little heap of data here and the most probable conclusion is INTP buuuuut I could be wrong bc of some bias I have or maybe I'm misunderstanding something, yet at the same time, stereotypes are just that, so maybe I'm overthinking it, I don't have to always perfectly match the general description, right? But also, ..." etc, etc.

And I think that that very king of thought process is a good indicator one is an INTP.

But more seriously, some other good indicators come from the temperament groups, Linda Beren's interaction styles, and some other stuff, that basically comes to this:

Do you use a lot of words? Do the paragraphs flow from your finger tips? Have you trouble getting straight to the point bc you feel you have to really explain it to be properly understood (and maybe to understand it yourself)? (Informative v Direct)

Do you feel uncomfortable walking up to a person you don't know and starting a conversation? Or worse, joining an already-going conversation of people you don't know? (Responding v Initiating)

Do you plan out what you're going to say/do ahead of time, even if it's just seconds beforehand, and feel derailed if something happens in that time that changes what you want/need to say/do? (Outcome v Progression)

Do you prefer to think/talk about "the way things are" (and will presumably continue be) more than "the way this thing is"? (Abstract v Concrete)

Do you think hiding the truth from someone to "spare their feelings" is (at least generally) a horrible idea? In other words, that reality must be faced, whatever we feel about it? (Pragmatic v Affiliative)

Lastly, do you think for yourself? Do you formulate your own thoughts and opinions, and draw your own conclusions, where you can? (Ti Hero, NT)

Hopefully that can help some. Also, I feel all the time that I'm not really smart, that even if I am intelligent it's in the most useless way possible, that I have nothing more than the ability to grasp concepts a little faster than most people. But in the end it's not really fair. I think we're all brilliant in our own stupid ways, and we owe ourselves a little more recognition on that front.

Personally, reading a bit of what you've written, I think the chances are good you're INTP, just from the way you describe your thoughts, though I obviously don't have all the information.

Anyway, yeah, I guess that's that.

INFPs think a LOT.

It would be the content of thought that matters to type.

INTP have immature Fe. They can seem fluffy on the surface.

I do not have that good of an imagination. I don't fantasize.

What I try to do is simplify things, complexity is difficult to hold in memory.

As I understand it, introverted cognitive functions process information and internally select conclusions as to what's accurate, whereas extraverted functions gather information by reading the corresponding introverted functions of others, making a loop of processing and collective verification.

Thus, the chief cognitive actions of INTPs are:

Ti: Taking in the thoughts and beliefs of others (Te) and processing via logic to come to internal conclusions about what we think is true. It's not so much about having certain kinds of thoughts as having the process of determining what we think internally rather than by assuming that what most/smart people think is true.

Ne: Paying attention to other people's desires and intentions (Ni) and then watching how they play out, trying to gather patterns across various instances, making a database of good and bad potential outcomes based on desires, which they try to communicate to people so they can avoid pitfalls and such

Si: Processing what has been experienced (Se) and coming to conclusions about what is comfortable/pleasant/enjoyable.

Fe: Reading others' emotions (Fi) via empathy, gathering data about how people feel in response to their environments including others' actions, the goal being to communicate to Fi users the data on what makes people feel good/bad so they can draw conclusions about what's right/wrong.

The processes we're not great at are:

Te: Sensing what people in general think/believe, since we're in our own heads coming to conclusions. At first we unconsciously assume people know what we do, but after a while of coming across people who hold stupid beliefs we start to worry that people in general might be stupid.

Ni: Seeing so many people choose life paths based on their desires that end up going nowhere if not crashing and burning we tend to be critical of allowing ourselves to choose a path of intention, seeing as we don't really know for sure if our intentions will lead anywhere good. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" could well be an INTP mantra. Unfortunately, paralysis of decision is also a path, and not a good one.

Se: This one I'm honestly not sure about. In principle it manifests as being unaware of what other people have experienced, but I'm not totally sure how that shows itself.

Fi: We tend to care about making sure other people feel good (emotionally), and so act ethically (avoiding doing what hurts others emotionally) but we really don't care about acting morally, which can mean something like having no qualms about, say, trespassing, if we have no reason to believe anyone will discover us and get upset about it, and we don't take or break anything important or that would be missed (presumably upsetting someone).
