    An engineer is always looking to improve/make more efficient systems, methods, etc. I think INTPs are referred to as the engineers because that is exactly what they do--but with ideas and concepts and not so much physical entities. Hence why it'd make more sense to work in philosophy...

    I was very surprised as well when I noticed very few are interested in those. I don't want to speak for everyone, but I know I love working with theories and concepts. ISTPs would probably make better engineers. What's possible is people are picking engineering over those other fields...
