ok i am interested in finding a new MMORPG to play. currently i have played a few and dident get too far in any.

they are:

EVE Online (great game but takes a long time to train skills)

WOW (mainly played to play with people who wanted me to play. also used play time to listen to my audio books)

Requiem (free and dark but not that fun)

Shaiya (free and would be on par with wow if it had better graphics.)

so right now i am finishing up my eve subscription and am considdering getting a new game. thus far i am thinking mainly Age of conan or Aion. Aion look great and i would be playing with my roommate but other that graphics, i dont see it being any differnt than WOW. conan on the other hand intrests me because of the gore and the more tactical combat system. rather than pressing 1 button to attack you press 5! ta da!. i like blood. iam also thinking of ignoring all MMORPGs and just staying with basic MMOs like CoD4 or any other FPS.

any advice?

Aion is a complete grindfest game. It is dull and repetitive, not very fun unless you love killing the same mobs over and over again. The game is riddled with bots and gold spammers, RNT is a big problem in Aion. I played Lineage2 for years, another game made by NCSoft. It had the same problems as Aion, and NCSoft never bothered to fix it. I would recommend staying from Aion, its very frustrating to play. All the little annoyances add up and you are left wondering why you pay 15 dollars a month for crap.

Age of Conan was a disappointment for me. It had a lot of hype and I was let down by the fact that there were so many bugs. I didn't get very far, it wasn't that much fun anyway.

In my opinion World of Warcraft is by far the best and most fun MMO to play. My favorite aspect about WoW is the interface. Its so smooth and easy for the player. You won't ever run into a problem of getting stuck in terrain, quests bugging out, etc. The end game content has so much depth to it, it will keep you occupied for a while. The end game PvE raids, and PvP arenas are all really challenging.

WoW and AoC are both grind fests. Some of the content is interesting, but you will always be outpaced by grinders, frustrated by farmers and spend most of your time trying not to be bored. Sometimes succeeding.

I played CoH and CoV, which I liked a lot, so I have high hopes of Champions online, but after AoC I'm done with subscription fees.

Which leads me to what I play in the spare time now. Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited. Free to play, but some of the content requires you buy points to unlock them. You can earn points in game, so many people play without ever paying a cent, but the content was really well designed, so I felt it was worth the investment.

I'm about a month and a half in and enjoying myself quite a bit. There is no grind. You get no experience for killing things, only for completing quests. You can repeat quests, but the xp diminishes and loot diminish for each run after 3. What does that mean? First, farming is almost impossible. A casual player can almost match the loot of a hardcore player (though hardcore players will obviously have the edge). Quests are really well designed and there's a lot of incentive to do them all. Down side? No PvP, for the most part. You can fight, but its very much a side show kind of thing, and only available in certain taverns.

If you don't mind the subscription fee, I understand Warhammer has proven to be quite a solid game. I can't speak from personal experience, but its made by the folks that did DAoC, which invented the RvR system that others are trying to copy. Low bug count, good writing, strong PvE.

I suggest I could put the coordinate here but then
My experience with f2p MMORPG are all bad. It is probably totally unfit for a INTP (if you are one, or anyone that are not SJ I think) because all you have is grindfest.
Best f2p MMORPG so far I played is Atlantica Online, that was before they make some bad patch that turn it into a grindfest.
If you don't mind spending money, perhap Guild War is good, but I hear they are going to release GW2.
Age of Conan and Aion are both grindfest, and Aion is really horrible at that.
So if you want to play something interesting, I think you should not be playing MMORPG, at least not until an innovative one come out.
I am tempted to make a MMORPG that are totally break the current trend.

Try ProgressQuest: http://progressquest.com/

The graphics are a bit old-fashioned but the controls are the easiest and most intuitive I've ever seeen. The whole grinding works also surprisingly fast. Like it plays itself!
Oh, it's free too.

Hahaha I played this one before. The parody is really funny.:smiley_emoticons_mr
They used to have a forum where fake information about the game are spread to newbie too. I think it is even more fun than the game.
