Does anyone do kit-bashing or model making?

I've recently encountered and been inspired by the art of Hiroto Ikeuchi.

What is it? Nothing, it's art, it doesn't actually do anything, the guy wearing it can probably just see enough of the ground in front of him to be able to walk around without tripping over, but there's no reason why that couldn't have actual cameras in it and those antennas could be actual working antennas.

Greebling is a kind of three-dimensional detailing added to a model to seduce the eye into the illusion of scale.

Or rather what really appeals to me: how complexity creates the illusion of technological sophistication, the example above doesn't do anything but it certainly looks like it does, it looks like it does several things and does them very well, after all why else would someone go to all that effort?

No, nothing like that.
We had model railroads once.
My ISTP son does some fancy remote racing car models.

I have a friend that does model boats for fun, they are wooden and some parts have to be hand made. You have to have a LOT of patience and they are hard to find and build. He has many different types. This is a Scottish fishing boat Ilean ban model.

I like working with plants and have done fairy gardens for fun.
