Pretty much. There’s the idea of having “strong personal ideals” for self preservation. It also suggests their ancient ancestor memory dates back all the way to the past and all the days back then. So they’re really “hella strong”, or really powerful.
Since it happened first, it’s more natural and right. Space anime or anything is too “out there”. It’s futuristic, so to them, it means if you like it, you must not like feudal era Japan stuff or history/the past in general, and you don’t need math or to be a genius to appreciate it, but they think you lost if you do like it. Samurai are trained to kill on sight. So if you died back then they think you run to sci-fi style anime for escapism.
There’s no real point trying to bicker, or basically nit pick it to death like an “Ni” individual scraping out as much idealism as possible because they can “see what’s missing”. Otherwise, it is what it is. It basically makes no sense (colloquially, it makes perfect sense to me, but is basically stupid). I was into it before. All that samurai shit is boring, there’s no real point not liking Gundam or other sci-fi space anime. It just usually isn’t as Fi/Se, which anime is loaded with, appealing to preteens and those under 20.
