I hate beginning these things, but I guess I ought to start with "hello."
Hi.
I'm new to the forum! I developed a sudden obsession with these types, and I'm starting to annoy my friends (I go on and on and on... and on). So I figured I'd better find an outlet. And here I am.
I'm almost positive I'm INTP. I've taken the test 50,000,000 times and every single time I've come out as INTP. I guess it's possible that I'm somehow subconsciously answering based on what I wish were true about myself and/or what I used to be like (because that is, after all, how I'm used to myself being), but I read through a description and highlighted bits that fit me (which is something I do...), and it seemed accurate. Bizarrely accurate, actually, down to ridiculous details. I mean, yeah:
-I'm overly logical
-Independence is crazy important to me.
-I like to be good at everything I try (but I don't really need to be GREAT, although it WOULD be nice for a change).
-I hate planned schedules.
-I sometimes argue the side opposite to the one I believe because while it's great that the other person agrees with me, they're doing so for superficial reasons and don't understand that actually, the other side has some sound logical reasoning to back it up.
-I almost always mimic the behavior of whoever I'm dealing with unintentionally in order to function socially. Actually, I've gotten really good at it to the point where I'm confident in social interaction. Because I UNDERSTAND how it works...
-I go through interests like normal people go through socks. Don't ask me why socks... It was just the first thing that came to mind. Or, actually, the second. The first was underwear. But undergarments are on the list of topics not to talk about in first posts on forums (along with porn, masturbation, religious views except for in specific circumstances, romantic history, guilty pleasures and, of course, anything emotional). Some past and present interests (going all the way back to kindergarten, by the way) include: geology, environmental science, website design, multi-media artwork, neuroscience, linguistics, punk history, zines, harmonica, anthropology, reconstructed crafting (also known as my bringing home old bicycle tires that I found in people's yards phase), science fiction, polytheistic religions, ancient religious texts, folklore, Eastern European cultures, indigenous people in South America, Northern Canada and Australia, research bases in Antarctica, endangered languages, psychology, genetics and SO MUCH MORE.
But also (and I guess these are INTP things):
-I like science fiction.
-I sometimes refuse to do the simplest things if someone tries to push me into them.
-I love music, particularly music from Eastern Europe (oddly enough, an enjoyment of Eastern European music was listed as INTP-ish).
-I'm good at humor in general, but especially written humor. And for this reason, I love the internet. But don't expect me to be funny. Too much pressure. It will only happen when you least expect it.
-My room is always incredibly cluttered, and I'm constantly arguing with my parents about it... I don't really see any point in cleaning it. I know where everything is and am comfortable, so cleaning it won't benefit me (but will only take up time) and they don't come in my room (nor does company, which was one of the reasons they cited). So it's completely pointless...
