What is a job that doesn't suck that also doesn't require a college degree? I'm in college and it's summer so I want to get a job

I just got out of pizza delivery, but if you have a car and only work part time, it's a pretty fun job. You get paid to listen to music and get a discount on pizza, sometimes it's even free. plus if it a decent area you can make full time wages with part time hours.

Otherwise most jobs have something that sucks about them. I honestly think that working shitty stressful jobs for a couple years, helps in people adapt to adulthood better. Jobs that force you to interact with people are good for young introverts to learn the social game. Its not a fun game, but it's a game most humans have to learn how to play. I've learned to like parts of it.

So I guess what I'm saying, is just get a job, what ever job you can find. It'll teach you something.

Get a job that requires people skills. In other words, get a summer job in retail, sales or service. It'll be good for your character development. People are assholes and you need to learn to deal with them for whatever career path you're studying to pursue at university.

Or even better, get a job as the office bitch in whatever your chosen field is.

I chose psychology as a major but I'm not finding any jobs in that area that don't require atleast an associates degree. I'm realizing if I want a job in this field I need to be a social worker or counselor and I'd probably be insensitive and at the end of the day most people aren't looking for solutions but only emotional support and someone to listen. I wish I was born decades ago so I could be one of those amoral psychologists who do unethical experiments like Freud

Night auditor at a hotel. Hours are sort of suck, but you deal with few people and don't really do much. Once your done with the auditing process which depending on the hotel can take anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours, you can have rest of time to read/write, surf the web, or just sit there.

I had paper round (shit) and groundsman (shit) 'jobs' at 14, then worked in a warehouse over the summer break between 16 and 19. When I went to college, I worked part time in retail (shit) and then moved on to ''''''''business administration''''''''' (read: office shit-shifter) first within social services, and then in a transport company.

Then I got in to IT at 20. Haven't looked back since.

Do some shit jobs. They'll teach you a thing or five. Good soul food, man.

Teachers are the worst, imo. They go School > college > uni > school. Bunch of fucking imbeciles.

Do 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats and a 10km run every day.

Assuming for a moment this advice was serious,
it is a very bad idea to start physical training from overexertion, in the most likely scenario you're going to damage your muscles/joints and develop lasting injuries.

If you seriously consider becoming a super hero start small, run for a few minutes and see if you can't catch your breath, then take a break, balance the areas of the body you are developing, focus on sustainable (aerobic) training the most, then increase the daily intervals of your exercise routine, though keep in mind that the health benefits quickly diminish going above 4 hours.

What is a job that doesn't suck that also doesn't require a college degree? I'm in college and it's summer so I want to get a job

Unfortunately, it's really late in the game now. Already mid-June. It's going to be hard to find anything. That said, I would largely disagree with the whole "do sh*t jobs to learn about life." It's just suffering and pain, neither of which are good for you in and of themselves. What I mean is, a job for someone like you should meet the following criteria in my opinion:

1) Teaches you valuable skills and/or
2) Helps you narrow down what kind of career you might like to have

In the process of doing that, if you encounter some misery, it's probably worth it to see it through. But pizza delivery? Retail? Sux. And what's worse is neither of those kinds of jobs fulfill any of the above.

There are some jobs/unpaid positions that immediately come to mind that would be valuable if you're interested in psychology. If you're in the northeast US, are you in or close to a major city? If so, many possibilities. If not, I'm afraid you'll have to settle for whatever you can get.

Firstly, hospitals and universities often have volunteer research positions available. That would be where I would look first. I worked as a "business specialist" at a major hospital emergency department. Basically acted as a receptionist/coordinator in the middle of the ER. That was fun. I worked the nightshift. Learned about medicine. Saw all kinds of crazy/whacky people.

Second, IT. There has got to be something you can get involved in here. Even if it's just tech support/help desk, you learn about computers, you help people solve problems/troubleshoot, etc. I bet there would be openings for this kind of thing for a HS student. Again, universities are a great place to look, but also public libraries for possible job postings.

Third, tutoring. Lucrative and learning how to teach is a very valuable skill to have. If you did well on the SAT or ACT or any of the subject tests, or even just tutoring English as a second language, there are options.

If none of those work out, then yeah...retail.

tl;dr:

Check out www.elcie.com. Type in your MBTI type and it will output a list of favorable careers for your type. Everything is based on hundreds of thousands of statistics from the MBTI organization, and the guy who runs it is a formal mechanical engineer and INTP. Look at those careers and think about ways you could get involved in something now that would help you learn more about one or more of them.

No that's ridiculous.

How can you be a superhero if you don't do my training regimen?

Excellent. Any interest in working as a farmhand in Vermont? You do pretty tedious work all day, but have few interruptions and can think for hours. Very little interaction if you don't want it, and it's very important work! The pay isn't great, but you'll get free room and board.

How long term are you planning? The farmer I'm thinking of usually prefers taking on new apprentices/farmhands for only 1 season at a time, but he might be flexible if you want to stay for longer.

Also, it helps to have a vehicle (although I managed without one). Not sure what you mean about an airline -- the closest airport is 2 hours away.

The house I lived in (shared with 1-2 other people with plenty of room) looked like this:

Obviously there are also bedrooms and a bathroom, but I don't have pictures of them.

If you're still interested, I will reach out to the farmer and make sure he is still hiring.

Is there a Career Center on your campus or internal hiring website?
Most colleges have these, where students can find on-campus and nearby job listings for typical minimum wage pre-graduate level jobs.

You've started looking too late. To find good summer jobs you need to start applying at least a month or two before, in April-early May, if not earlier. Some of the cooler student summer jobs are listed as early as January-Feb. By the time summer comes, all the "sweet spots" are already taken, and most of what remains are less desirable jobs that no other students have taken or turned down for whichever reason.
