Where intrinsic motivation is not apparent, INTPs appear to need extrinsic motivators to force accomplishments. Is there a sense in which INTPs are incapable of motivating themselves to do things they aren't interested in? It appears to be a general dividing line between the INTJ and INTP.

There is a huge sense of this for me. I have a very hard time mustering up any motivation for tasks that don't provide any value to me. Many times, I've been called lazy and stupid because of this.

I find that if someone tells me to do something 'now', or a specific time in the future (such as appointments), there is more of a chance I will do that task.

Given a choice of time, or any chance of procrastination, then it is very likely the task won't be done.

I find it helps me when I set specific times, or appointments, for tasks that are mundane to me.

I agree with the above.

Everything bores me greatly. I will only do something if I can associate meaning to it. For example these days I'll go out of my flat to walk around the city, not because I like casual walks, but because I know I need to go outside and - BINGO! - the reason I should go outside is because I need exercise to stay fit and healthy! And there we have it. I manage to get out of the house because I've find a reason to do it. Otherwise I'd waste my life on the Internet until I die, heh.

If only I could find a reason to study.

And a reason to not get drunk so much.

You need a reason not to drink so much? Then what about this: drink because you choose your vices. Make it a choice to drink. That will provide you with control. And then when you are in control, you can arrange for specific moment to abuse.

And in time reduce it.

I never studied. I did some small measure of homework when I needed to. I didn´t go to uni. I was never motivated to study anything.

The problem is that our society demand sof all people to work. I think INTP´s are by nature not meant to work, perhaps...perhaps... I don´t rightly know. Many INTP´s work. But what I have seen is that often they don´t like it.

Study is to gain diploma´s which is a horsehit manure thing in society because whatever you learn is rarely needed at the job. Hm. There is no reason to study accept to be compliant.

Society is stupid.

INTP´s should be free to think. And in whatever realm their thoughts go, they need to be put in writing and then society eneds to ask extraverts to belabor themselves. We should be the Masters and they the slaves I tell you. We were meant to rule and think.
