Hello !

For a few weeks now i have been studying Jewish mysticism / metaphysics (Kabbalah: not the "Madonna" approved version), but in order to understand better i had to start studying Judaism in general aswell...

Anyway, i find Judaism as a very "INTP" religion / vision of the world:

- Instead of wasting their time / money to convert others (what christians and muslims do !) and forcing their beliefs down the throat of "non-initiates", Jews mind their own business thru focussing solely both on what they acquired so far and on their own evolution (they seek both concentration AND expansion of themselves).

- Jews are ruled by 613 "commandments" / axioms: 365 "negative" commandments (dont do's) and 248 "positive" commandments (do's). Some may sound pretty ridiculous nowadays in the 21st century but a lot of them are about common sense, security, diet, health, family, self-preservation...

- Jews dont directly interfere with "non-initiates" and yet influence them indirectly.

- The motto of their nation, Israel, could well be "Don't tread on me"...

Was ("their") God an INTP ? :-)

God from the old testament? More in the likes of ENFJ with all this restraint and systemic control.

They don't convert because to be a Jew you need to be born from the Jewish mother. That's their rule, aside from that they tend to be esoteric and elitist anyway.

They are ruled or they aren't, there are Jews that do obey most/all rules they were taught and there are those that don't.

The main function of arbitrary rules like the Jewish dietary laws is the reduction of contact areas and thus self-ghettoisation, which helps to perpetuate the tribal religion.

If the tribesmen live as a small minority in a society, their non-assimilation plus their lack of proselytism can be a recipe for disaster.

Today the people of the book trust in weapons of mass destruction, which are simply better at getting things done than the fictitious gods of fictitious texts.

The survivability of religious communities is admirable considering the fictitious character of the respective god, which may be a necessary condition if gods and religious communities are mutually exclusive.

We put thirty spokes together and call it a wheel; but it is on the space where there is nothing that the usefulness of the wheel depends. (Laozi)
ISRAEL: Proselytizing is legal for all religious groups. A 1977 law prohibits offering a material benefit as an inducement to conversion. It is also illegal to convert a person under 18 years of age unless one parent is an adherent of the religious group seeking to convert the minor. Despite the legality of proselytism, the government generally discourages proselytizing and encourages the popular perception that it is illegal. The MOI occasionally cites proselytism as a reason to deny student, work, and religious visa extensions, as well as to deny permanent residency petitions.
