In great numbers and variety around my place at the moment.

These are harmless but they creep me out, the way they move is deeply unsettling.

This one I call Fatso because he (she?) only reacts to food and is quite placid. There's another I call Crazy that keeps escaping, that one's very skittish, probably still in my apartment somewhere. There's a larger one I saw in my garage a few weeks ago, if that's an adult I guess this would be an adolescent.

The way they move is indeed unsettling. Like the amount of awareness their eyes give them apex our own several times. Not some unprecise fly or mosquito that bumbles it's way to survival depending on sheer numbers.

The first one looks like an Orb Weaver of some type. I have fond memories of seeing a paddock full of webs on a foggy morning in Central Vic.

The second one looks like a Wolf Spider. They are quite interesting to watch when they are hunting.

It's that time of year again, just found this big guy walking across the floor.

That should keep him until morning, then I'll release him outside.

Was not happy when I caught him.

We call this place Spider Bridge, on the left over the embankment is the highway and on the right is relatively untouched bushland, I guess lots of bugs fly up towards the lights because every year this bridge is absolutely covered in spiders.

We have something similar in the South, called Golden Silk Orbweavers or Banana spiders.

Every azalea bush in the yard was covered in them, so if you walked in the backyard in the dark, it was easy to walk into a web, and they are huge, super strong webs. The Silk spider webs are supposed to stop bleeding if you are in the wilderness if you apply a silk spider web like a bandaid.

I'm sorry to say, I got a bucket of laundry soap and took a string mop full of suds and just mopped them off of the azaleas into the bucket of hot suds and I regret it now because I haven't seen them at all since.
I should have left a few, as they are part of the environment, and they still are, just not in my yard now.

We also have brown recluse and I had to give away fabric seat swings, tents, etc that they like to hide in. Found one ON my screen door knob, right where you'd want to grab the handle, so gloves are helpful, and look before you touch.

The two spiders I like are Daddy Long Legs and jumping wolf spiders.

Daddy Long Leg

Jumping Wolf Spider
I have a few wolf spiders in my house and they seem semi social, come down a thread near my lamp and interact sometimes and they are cool to look at with extra eyes and they don't bite.
I had a dream of a wolf that stood by me to guard me, it had eyes just like the wolf spider, and stood guard, which I liked in my subconscious dream mind.

The orb weavers love azaleas though.

Your Golden Silk Orb-weaver looks like the one on my balcony, but mine doesn't have the stripes on the abdomen.

It's right above where I hang my washing, I don't mind it being there but I keep feeling the odd strand of silk when I change clothes.

Apparently, spiders are supposed to be really smart creatures even though they have such a tiny brain.

I appreciate this thread. I don't really have any spider pics to show, but have enjoyed seeing the ones posted (including @Animekitty's picture, which I found super funny).
