Does anyone know of a study that gives a breakdown of MBTI personality types by state or region? I live in the south now and it seems that there are far more extraverts here than up north. Also, I do not meet many people at all who match the INTP type -- the few that do (with once exception) also migrated from the north. I know INTPs are rare but it seems that they are even rarer around here.

Also, are the types pretty much consistently distributed throughout the states, or even the world, or is it possible that some states, regions, nations have higher percentages of certain types than others. In other words, will the US generally have the same MBTI type distribution as England, Mexico, Nigeria, China, or any other country? If MBTI type is nature and not nurture then I would expect that no matter where you go, you would find the same general percentages.

Any thoughts?

In my head.
Your surroundings have a huge influence on your personality type. Monkey see, monkey do, right? No, I do not think that other countries necessarily have the same stats on the popularity of certain types. Different cultures promote being different ways; for example, America promotes being active. As a result, the majority of Americans are S types. In our society, females are looked to as being emotional, while it is not considered "manly" for guys to be very emotional. Again as a result, the most common types for males (in America) is ISTJ and the most common for females is ISFJ. This is typically speaking. Also, it is promoted to be an extrovert in America, (though I and E are pretty much 50/50), apposed to somewhere like China, where people tend to me more introverted.

To answer your question strait, yes, I think that different countries have different MBTI type percentages. After all, doesn't each country have a stereotype as to how people who live in that country act? On the flip side, I would assume there are some types that people just tend to be and think like.
