Just wanted to share the futurology site in reddit - http://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/. It's a pretty good site to look for all stuff related to technological advancements.

Well, it seems like a waste to make a thread without the op inquiring into something, so I guess you guys could tell me what your vision of the future looks like, I think that would be interesting to read.

I really like this idea. Firstly because it does not mean an increase in money spending on social security, it is just reorganizing it. Secondly because without the fear of having to sleep on the street and having no food people will be really free, more free than ever before. This will benefit society. Lastly, no man should be without shelter or sustenance in such developed countries as in Europe, this would fix that & the need for monetary charity.

Alternatively, we could just build institutions that provide to anyone: shelter, sanitary, clean drinking water and enough and nutritious (+safe) food not to starve (doesn't need to be tasty). To that one can add programs to help people to work/voluntering/self-improvement/social help.
Advantage of their idea is that you don't cluster all the needy people around institutions but let them disperse. Disadvantage is that you can't reach/keep tabs on those not participating with society.
