I tend to wonder why all people exist, to the point where specifics like this don't often dawn on me. I'm not even sure why there has to be a universe, so something like this is like a blip on a fuzzy radar.

That said, yeah, it's kind of odd that people would do such a thing for a living, but they get paid, and I hear great strides are being made in memory-erasure technology.
