There seems to be a tightrope walk one must do in order to get what they want. Go too far to the right (control) and it will slip through your fingers the tighter you squeeze. Go too far to the left (pessimism) and you will be living a self-fulfilled prophecy of defeat.
I've found the best way to get what I want is to not let go of my desire for something, but to not expect it while also being willing to accept whatever comes.
Overall, it is a posture of thankfulness for what I have knowing if I don't get exactly what I want, it's totally fine.
There seem to be some metaphysical properties in this in how the mind processes reading into the future. This is why I think Isaiah in the Bible could predict that the Jewish Messiah (Jesus) could be "pierced" before crucifixion was ever invented (Isaiah 53:5).
I've also known this to be true for me on a small scale, like Isaiah, with surprising frequency any time I implement this technique. Though to be sure, I am still learning how to do it with more consistency as it seems to be just as much of a subconscious thing as it is a goal to pursue.
Level your expectations, live in acceptance and watch the coconut fall into your hands. Try it!
