  • I liked everything about your answer to my post in the depression forum, particularly the reference to Kurdt Cobain's suicide note which I recognised within about 3 words. You're right, we do sound very similar.
They're right, though. I do derail threads with bad, unsolicited advice; I'm the problem. The harsh critical reviews are actually helpful, and I changed my story accordingly. Indeed, my Fe should be kept in better order or better check; in the absence of my ability to keep it in order, I therefore choose, or should therefore choose, to keep it in check.

As pertains to my greater emotional vulnerability, my therapist (ISFJ, if that matters) has told me to release my emotions a bit. Of course, Fe for him is second nature, while Fe for me is... *gulp* a terrifyingly unpredictable demon seething and surging within me. Nonetheless determined, I use Fe when possible; of course, some posters here loathe that. The growing "punch Duxwing in the throat" aura that I'm detecting in the forum-- evidenced by even the mods being displeased with me-- leads me to believe that a lynch-mob is forming. From my perspective, the greater sadness has been that I was looking for friends here; I'm so lonely that my companions are imaginary, not real. And now I sound like a desperate creeper... YUCK!

Regarding your analysis, I understand our differences now: For the most part, you want to change the world, but I want to analyze it. As an aside; the next time I make a Star Trek joke involving you, I'll be sure to call you McCoy. :D

Awww, thanks. :o I feel better about my future now, really, I mean it. I conjecture* that the sort of personal wisdom, and especially the delivery of said wisdom, are what earn those of your type-- INFJ-- the moniker "The Counselors".

Also, I read through some of the comments on your wall (I wonder if doing so is like rummaging through someone's garbage: legal, but nonetheless disturbing ) and noticed that Radiant Shadow, another INFJ, mentioned that the people here are zany. Second, I ask: am I zany to you? You certainly seem different from me and similar to the other INFJ's, so, to put my question more precisely: do I appear different from you, and similar to the other INTP's?

Hey, fancy that! Me too. INFJf, while it has great people, tends to be too fluffy for my tastes; I've never been a very touchy-feeling INFJ, though.

Indeed, we have the capacity to be perhaps the most detached and precise of the Feeler tribes because our Fe is book-ended by Ni and Ti on either side. Ni just cares about its vision of the world, formal use of Fe systematizes mankind, and Ti loves its logical consistency. Very potent when balanced (i.e, Matt3737), yet can also be very dangerous. I've heard a lot of people on the internet describe our tribe as 'the most cold and rational Feelers out there'. Anyway, I've preached enough for today, onward!

Yeah, it's nice to ponder the essence of things. It feels good to just let go of all the weight associated with people and think. Admittedly, I believe I've been a little dogmatic towards you in the past regarding functionality -- a free will thread, if I remember right. Sorry 'bout that.
    Likewise!

I have enjoyed my time here immensely, though I rarely contribute. The folks here are great for structuring and strengthening one's self. And not a little bit zany! Very different atmosphere from the other forum, to say the least. I'm glad to hear you like it ^.^
Go look at my profile. I have time. I'll wait.

    *whistles distractedly*

Did you look? Good. Now, how can you be a dog person when there are kitties like that one in the world? HOW?!?!?
Yes, I find number theory very fascinating. Did you know that the Greek goddess Athena was associated with mathematics, wisdom, strategy, and weaving?

All activities being strongly associated with patterning. Mathematics being referred to sometimes as the science of patterns.
Georg Cantor, the inventor of set theory along with transfinite numbers and the implication of an infinity of infinities, seemed to believe his inspiration came from God and also met with much criticism due to religious belief regarding the uniquely infinite nature of God.

    wikiquote:

It has been suggested that Cantor believed his theory of transfinite numbers had been communicated to him by God.

David Hilbert defended it from its critics by famously declaring: "No one shall expel us from the Paradise that Cantor has created."
