The reason that INTJs think they are so great is their tendency to robotic thinking. It is easy to think of oneself as a superior intellect when you always think inside a box. Living in a continuous state of cognitive dissonance, and always thinking about the limits of one's own intellect -- now that's a more challenging existence and it makes you more humble.

That's a very good point. Though to be fair, some INTJs are excruciatingly aware of this limitation.

back in the early days of the internet when there was no as much information on personality types I was trying to figure out whether I was INTP or INTJ. An instructor who taught the course about personality types said the main difference between P' and J' was that J's finished each task while P's lost interest part way through and moved on to something else that interested them. That explanation helped me determine I was an INTP. There's room and need for both. Neither is better. While the INTJ may accomplish more since they can finish task before getting bored, the INTP will likely explore more ideas and problems and have a greater pool of knowledge to use to satisfy their own quest for knowledge. We may not always share this with others but sometimes we do and more often than not the recipients are thankful for the help. It also helps us to deal with the unexpected. I found out the reason I was hired for my last job. In the type of work I do they usually require you to complete a short exercise before the interview then question you about how you went through the process and derived you answer. I started off by saying although I had never done it that way (as stated in the assignment) ... Because of all the bits of information I have stored in my head I was quickly able to figure how to proceed in the manner requested and come up with a reasonable result. They weren't looking so much for a specific answer but were trying to assess how you thought and dealt with typical work problems.

Being INTP suits me fine. My father always told me if someone doesn't like you then that is their problem. If you let it bother you then it becomes your problem.

i only know 2 intjs irl.
i find both a little intimidating, and they both tend to talk right over me, in the middle of a sentence(idk if this is an intj thing)...which is why i sort of clam up whenever we're having a conversation(if you can call it that...lol). so although i like them, theyre obviously not the type of people i would open up to.

Ti, Ne and Fe make for a more interesting combination...imo :)

While intps tend like to think of the implications and possibilities, intjs only care for what produces an answer. My problem with intjs are that if they can't come up with a clear logical answer they make one up, then if the intp tries to tell them they are wrong they demand a better answer and how you came to that conclusion. intps are great at seeing the big picture, but we are indecisive at coming up with answers because we know that there is more to know, after all intp wisdom is knowing that you don't know it all, and this seems to totally elude some intjs. paired with the fact that intps are generally cursed with low self esteem and don't want to expend precious energy arguing with the brick wall intj. Intjs generally think of themselves as awesome and do everything they can to protect that front, can become nearly hostile towards any who try to tell them otherwise by throwing up a huge wall of cognitive dissonance to protect their fragile core while shoving your every mistake and flaw in your face. This is dangerous for intps.
That being said, not all intjs are like that, this is only my experience with a limited number of intjs, and those interactions are generally results of me not wanting to be a dumb follower and to think for myself.
