Do you ever remember what you are thinking afterwards?

So most of the time when im thinking of something that has nothing to do with anything "mind babble" and someone talks to me or when im daydreaming and someone snaps me out of it i never remember what i was thinking/daydreaming

When i used to watch TV my mind would wander during commercials and when i snap out of it sometimes i would forget what i was watching and this isnt a general memory problem i actually have a really good memory when it comes to retaining information i learn or remembering conversations and such

its just i can never keep remember my thoughts when i am done thinking them through and or when interrupted which makes me feel that the whole thinking was useless like whats the point if im not gonna remember any of it so do any of you ever experience this?

Hard to recall but possible.
It is not that you can not remember, only your conscious mind can not remember, it is like the conscious mind is only an interface,a window to the unconscious one, it is not sure to be lost.

I have the opposite problem. When I'm daydreaming or being elsewhere in my thoughts I barely remember people I've met or what I've told them when they asked me about things.

Some even complain that I didn't notice them on the street. What? Why would I waste my attention looking around the street and checking if someone waves at me. That said I've adjusted enough to know which places are the usual "meeting grounds" and there I try to be more alert to spot acquaintances and make them a bit more happy by "noticing them".

Often when I meet them again I have to be very careful to deduce what were the specifics of our previous meeting by making a few generic allusions to that time. Or I have to work quickly backwards to recreate what I would say at the time of that conversation.

Luckily enough I can concentrate on the important people or moments and the remaining group falls into the predictable category so they always want to know and talk about similar things with me.

It's that feeling like: "What was I talking about? I was going to say something, but I took a tangent... What was I going to say, what was I going to say... WELL! I don't remember.. Wait! I remember! I got off track with that non sequitur about the XYZ... WAIT! I lost it again!"
