Epilepsy is frequently misdiagnosed as various other disorders. Not only is epilepsy misdiagnosed as autism, it is also misdiagnosed adhd-inattentive type. It is misdiagnosed as adhd-inattentive type because if you do nothing for a few seconds you are spacing out, or you could be having a seizure. Misdiagnoses like this happen frequently due to overlapping diagnostic criteria.

I knew a guy who did a lot of coke in college and it was amazing to see the number and size of dark/inactive spots in his brain. However, after being clean for two years those spots had started to heal and after 4 years they were much reduced.
