Lately, I've noticed more and more people turning to super short, colour- or number-based games during quick breaks, be it while commuting or between tasks. These games usually take under a minute per round and feel less like traditional gaming, more like casual distractions.
Just wondering—do you think these short-session games are becoming the new norm for casual players? Or will traditional games always hold the crown?
91club official, and daman games I prefer.
Would love to hear how others feel about this shift.

I feel like I am traditional gamer, and I no longer play games, I prefer real life albeit depressing as it is.

I don't know, I tried this type of game once at work when I had worked in drive thru and I had periods of no cars, and nothing to do. I think the games are just counter to boredom. People hate to feel idle and bored.

I think in reality its pretty unhealthy mind habit, but it can be pretty nice to switch into a quick game now and again. I imagine its a sort of distraction like daydreaming or gossiping etc. People will just find something to distract oneself with one way or another.

Tetris has no story, it is a purely mechanical game (in terms of game mechanics).

I think there will always be a place for games like that, however I also think these games are fundamentally shallow, even a mechanically complex game like Chess will never be able to engage players like a game with a story can.

Going further still is multiplayer and sandbox games where players create their own stories, either through interacting with the world (sandbox), or each other (multiplayer), indeed this is probably why Minecraft is one of the most played games of all time.

Now this is not to say a sandbox multiplayer is objectively the ultimate kind of game, again as I said there will always be a place for purely mechanical games, just as there will always be a place for every kind of game, because there's many different players with different needs.

Imo all that really matters is that a game is fun.

They can help me de stress and are good when I’m waiting for appointments.
I like hidden objects and mystery games. I delete most of the games as soon as they make me buy something, the two I can't seem to get rid of or stop are Junes Journey and Forge of Empires.
