I might be right in the middle between INTP and INFP, redone the test, and looked at the percentages this time, T = 1%

It all makes sense now xD

So, aren't they supposed to create a middle-type between both ? Or could we be both, or how does this thing work. (May I remind you all I am new to all of this).

i noticed even more that in your profile you have yourself as "INTp". did you take the MBTI test or the socionics?

as far as the percentages go, i don't know if i'd put much stock into that, at least not with the online tests. i've probably taken a good 7 or 8 of those online tests, most of which put me as INTP (for which the description fits almost perfectly) and one as ISTP (for which the description doesn't much fit me at all). and everybody uses T and F (and all the combinations of all the letters) its just a matter of how developed and matured each function is.

i guess the best way would be to read some of the descriptions and figure out whether they sound like you or not.

here are some places with INTP descriptions:

I did read both types, I am like the consensus between both types actually. (A little more INTP though), I didn't blindly follow the online test.

hmmm...
If I'm not mistaken, the percentage results which the tests give you are not a measure of how much of each function you use - but the general probability that that is the function you have. Everyone is definitely either one or the other - although both may be used very much. I've tested INFP before also, but I'm 100% sure I'm INTP - just and INTP with lots of feeling.

The inability of the test itself, to distinguish which it is, is where the confusion is. I recommend you take the tests in the MBTI Improved Type Indicator? thread - which approaches it from a different angle. :D

I hope this helps!

lol, I posted something saying that about 4 days ago, then realized that I had been looking at the 2nd page of a 5 page thread, and deleted it cause it wasn't relevant anymore.

nihilin, there are a couple different personality type things that match different cognitive functions to different four letter types... only they use the same 16 breakdowns, so it gets confusing. Anyway, Socionics is a separate theory that always puts the p/j in lowercase, at least every time I've seen it. The thing is that they have different meanings than the P/J in MBTI... so generally an MBTI INTP will map onto a socionics INTj, and an MBTI INTJ will map onto a socionics INTp. This is farther confusing because a few MBTI forums I've seen have people use lower-case letters for "weak" preferences... like you said you were a 1% T, so some people would put themselves as INtP for that... but I don't think that gels wit hthe theory at all. Anyway, a lot of the bluntness of your first few posts that pissed people off reminded me of an INTJ, somewhere else you said you tend to judge people quickly, and somewhere else you said that your laziness was "the only obstical [you] can't overcome"--all very, very INTJ traits (at least, if an INTJ were lazy, that's exactly what they'd say)... so I looked at your profile like AI did, saw the INTp, and thought you may have done a socionics test as well.

oh, if you're not sure if you're T/F, you might want to check out the descriptions for INFJ and INFP as well... but I strongly doubt you're an INFJ.

Have you tried lurking at INFP global chatter to see if you relate?

Somewhere buried in various threads around here there are some gems about INTP/INFP differences and similarities...

"INFP/INTP" @ globalchatter. (This thread is HILARIOUS to read.)

"Love & the INTP" in which the INFP type comes up (because we love INFPs) and is discussed.

But there's got to be more gems, I haven't been here that long!

Dunno, I consider myself an INTP and an INTp (and I indirectly had a part in contributing content to the wikisocion INTp description). I'd get into reasons why some people have such a balance between T/F but that would involve me going into socionics which I won't do on an MBTI board.

yep yep, exactly what I though, nihilen. :D

You're probably an MBTI INTJ. Not everybody... but most people tend to P/J switch from socionics to MBTI.
