TheDrake
objective means purpose
Hey,
I was recently banned from INTPc for six months, no reason given besides some bullshit witchcraft charges, heh. But the real reason I believe they banned me is on account of a couple threads I made that proposed some controversial theories.
I saw that Purveyor of Truth (redneckINTP?) was banned here due mainly to his track record at INTPc. I don't think that'll be the case with me.
I checked out some of the reaction to the highly controversial "witch trial" bannings; the vast majority were against the bannings and they demanded an explanation... Two main reasons provided for my banning: "persistent 'painfully stupid posts of the day' winner", and because I wasn't fit for their "forum vision". No evidence presented, and I never even officially was awarded with a 'painfully stupid post of the day'- not once!
My unconventional viewpoints upset the established order, I suppose.
I was known as CaptainFantasy there. I picked that nick because I thought it fit me well, and it is a song by my favourite band, Ween. I chose TheDrake because that used to be my nick name in highschool when my group of friends all adopted nicknames based on our personalities' resemblance to Seinfeld characters. I chose The Drake because he was a character that others mainly had a love-hate relationship with, and I guess it fit so well that it has stayed with me to this day, except the "The" is usually dropped... usually reserved for intense expressions of either love or hate, hehe.. but calling me Drake is quite fine by me. (I've come to dislike the name more ever since the half black jewish canadian rapper Drake broke on to the scene; pretty girl -"aw your name is Drake, that such an awesome name, do you listen to Drake", me- "no, he is terrible", she- "oh." walks away) On a slightly related note, The The is a band that I kinda like, especially this song: "this is the day"
And hopefully maybe this song will help influence your opinion of me: "I fell in love today"
...so sue me! - I'm a bit of a narcissist... though I think the more correct term would be "awesomist" -haw!
I think part of the reason I got INTPc banned is because my purpose at the forum was different than most peoples. I might describe myself as less oriented to the social aspects of the forum and more oriented towards ideas. But essentially I'm still (t)here to be social, just mainly through exchange of ideas.
I have confidence in my ideas, they are unconventional, personal, and experiential, and my main focus is to refine my ideas, my perspective, myself. It seems to me that people have misjudged me, my ideas, and my process by imposing the limitations of their own perspective and ideals; I don't blame them, I think it's the natural thing to do, I'm guilty of it too, but I don't think it necessarily something to feel guilty or defensive over, or offensive for that matter; I could be wrong, I'm open to being wrong, I want to be proved wrong, but perhaps a lot of people don't have the attention for me, for whatever the reason. That's okay, we'll just let each other do our own thing. This place seems like it might be more amenable to that, compared to the INTPc.
It was revealed in the "witch hunt" aftermath that some people regarded me as an attention whore. That's wrong, I think. I don't care one way or the other for the attention. I put myself out there to be understood, and if it happens that's great. Being understood by others allows me to further understand myself... I think people have a tendency to take me more seriously than I take myself. One person described me as such:
Other perhaps relevant things about me: I have big respect for Nietzsche and Hegel. I'm from Canada; Vancouver Island to be a little more precise.
Perhaps if I like it here, I'll make it home. LCD Soundsystem: "Home"
Ask me questions if you like, but let first me ask you this: can i embed videos here?
EDIT: neo moment: "whoa- I can embed videos".

...which I was quite delighted by, because I found it to be quite fitting, even the bad parts.Captain Fantasy was a smart guy. Just his idealistic ways were entirely too Osho-ish. It completely went against the grain of what the base of this forum currenly is.
