Imagine if we could control adrenaline, like go super saiyan everytime you need it.

10 flights of stairs?
HUAUAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
no problem.

It would so convenient in sports and other stuff. What if we could psychologically hypnotize ourselves for it to occur?

I was just bored.

Increasing epinephrine alone could be problematic. The good effects you experience are the result of a combination of epinephrine, norepinephrine, and cortisol.

The bad effects.... Well, it's well documented that stress is a bad thing for neurological, cardiovascular, and epithelial health. How could subjectively-induced spikes in stress hormones be a good thing?

You basement
You can. Jump off a cliff an you'll make your adrenaline go. One time I convinced myself I was having an allergic reaction and then got a large dose of adrenaline. Just like the matrix... you just have to believe. The mind doesn't give you a does of adrenaline because you are actually going to die; it gives it because you believe you are going to die. So how does one make themselves believe? You can start by coming to church on sundays.

It's awesome in games but not in real life. Adrenaline is reserved for life and death situations for a reason, the average human body isn't strong enough to sustain the increased performance levels.

Stress is actually the body's reaction when subjected to adrenaline and other hormones. So if you can manually get an adrenaline boost then you actually give your body the super ability called "instant stress".

As for sports, an old journal article states:
The average individual is not transformed into a world class athlete merely by "getting the adrenaline flowing."

They have epinephrine shots.
This was the first place my mind went reading the thread title.

Anyway, if we could control our adrenaline, and if we were clever, we'd use it almost exactly as we do now -- in urgent or emergency situations.

I remember my professor in Cell Bio doing an entire lesson on this. He made time for the lesson because one day he got bored and decided to see what would happen when he shot himself with his son's epi-pen for fun. Apparently, you feel like you're going to die, and then you sleep the sleep of the dead.

What would be interesting is how to control adrenalin in other people. Particularly, to calm them down if you find yourself with an aggressive person. Using no chemicals. Just words. Just fun,.. relaxing, ...deep, and peaceful......

words.

You wouldn't want to control it. It's a reaction with a specific goal and humans have terrible decision making on short notice and poor reaction times. People would tend to use it when unnecessary and forget about it when it could help
(blinded by pain, distractions, etc.).

Maybe some high-class killer/athlete with training could find it useful.

That's the thing -- people who are crazy fit with a lot of physical training (like Bruce Lee level and above) have a control over their bodies that average people don't. Such a person probably could, without anything supernatural going on, train themselves to release small amounts of adrenaline on command.

You could. There's a lot of master hypnosis people who literally devote their life to hypnotism and control of the human mind. They create this monotonous calm tone of voice, and control the hardwirings of the human brain with simple words.

I had thought I could induce adrenaline in myself at command but, due to the apparent difficulty of this, I probably have the wrong chemical? I get social anxiety, and can turn it on willingly as well as automatically, but have not found a way to quell it..

Hmm I have a fear against having anything close to my wrist artery (fingers including) I can use this phobia to get my adrenaline flowing I just never thought of doing so before. Will be a neat trick until I do it enough to get over my phobia.

Using fear is probably a good way to get what you want.

Yes it is not some form of miracle chemical that gives you Se.
It could come handy but rarely. Actually it sounds annoying.
