I noticed that INTPs seem to score high on Neuroticism and Openness to Experience. Is Openness to Experience a way to dissipate the pressures built up from your neuroticism?

I don't think so. Indeed I think the openness is what causes the neuroticism. Too much openness leads to too much awareness of stupidity, meaninglessness, misery and danger, to the point of making one extremely neurotic and paranoid. You can add to that the fact that the INTPs openness is usually misunderstood by other types, so much so that they can feel threatened by it, and the INTP is demonized and its very openness squandered... Even more reason to be neurotic.

The very low extraversion would be the way to dissipate neuroticism. Nothing better than hiding from humanity and the fucked up real world for a week...
