My Future World

Here is my idea for what the future eras will be after the Information Age.

Era 1: Post-information Age
-The immediate future. 20 or 30 years

Era 2: Fusion age
-The advent of sustained fusion power leads to the end of fossil fuels and unlimited energy

Era 3: Nano age
-Nanotechnology takes off and permeates every aspect of life

Era 4: Interstellar Age
-Humans discover Faster-than-light travel and are able to explore the galaxy

Era 5: Intergalactic Age
-Humans figure out how to transverse the intergalactic void and explore the universe

Era 6: Energy Age
-Humans figure out how to convert themselves to pure energy. Omnipotence is achieved and humans live in their own designer universe.

Can someone think of 10 future technologies/inventions for each era?

With the advent of ever better BCIs (Brain Computer Interfaces) the term "life support" takes on a whole new depth of meaning. With a good BCI and some telepresence robots you don't need your body anymore so when you're old and your organs are failing what are you going to do? Wait for death in an old folks home or put your brain on life support and become a fully body prosthetic cyborg?

Beyond that the future is hard to predict, although solving the technical challenges of long term life extension and mental digitization seem a lot more feasible than creating bubbles/tunnels in space/time so I reckon before we invent FTL (if indeed we ever do) there will be a period where technological liches will roam the stars.

Too much faith in makind in one thread D:

Future would problably look more like a degenerated society with advanced tech (only for the elite) and huge cities overpopulated, polluted and dirty. Oh, and that's only if we don't nuke each other first.

You mean, if we don't go extinct because of climate changes?
I think that there will be a time when because of climateric problems most of the population will disappear and the remaining ones will live a life that will be a mix of "stone age life" and "high tech futuristic life"...
