Mildly claustrophic so no. I like space and openness.

Nice. The problem is finding a tiny piece of land to put one on, I think. Or somewhere to put your portable house.

So true! I've always wanted to live in as small a space as I could. Whenever I stay at a motel, I always mentally think how I could furnish it, to live in the room permanently. Heck, I love the fact that my college dorms are so small (except for the fact I have to share it with a roommate). The only problem with these houses are entertaining company... Bwahahaha, jk, I'm an INTP.

Pretty interesting. I could live like that without complaint if I had to, not sure if I want to however. My biggest concerns are plumbing and electricity.

I wonder how different it'd be if this was the norm in society. There'd be more public land at least.

Perhaps not.

I did spend many years studying small house living, before it was fashionable. I also practiced it, and various forms of minimalism. Ultimately it led to boredom. For me, a wealth of electronics keeps me happy. I have a ton of computers and gadgets that I use on a daily basis. And let's not even discuss my photography hobby! Additionally I like to do astronomy occasionally and so have a variety of telescopes in my garage that my Dad and I built when I was younger, and which I continued to improve as an adult. However I don't go in for decorative items much. Just the minimum, and I don't like a lot of stuff in the garage.

So my office is the largest bedroom in our house, we sleep in one of the 'kid rooms', I have a large grand piano in the front room and I don't know where to put the photo stuff (presently trying to make them work in the bedroom closet). At this most people describe our house as 'spare'.

I suppose it seems so incredible to me because I am still young and have never owned my own house. The appeal of mobility is also probably attributable to my status as a young whippersnapper. And my minimalism fetish probably stems from the absurd amount of clutter I grew up with at my mom's house.

My plan: design furniture that works as storage space, and hide stuff in other stuff (the couch would have storage, but also a fridge. Fit as much in a small space as I can. Then, I purchase a yearly spot or two in a parking garage in NYC (expensive, but not as much as an NYC apartment). Park the house there, and commute to work.

I'm the opposite. I would wheel my house to the Lost Coast.

...I don't think so. It's too small, and too shaky when transported. Too many limitations on the transportation too, and a place to park - everything's losing the nature's touch, and you can't park that at the Square Gardens...

I'd prefer a rich life, a big and nice house that I could have a lot of various gadgets in, mostly electronics, servers, etc.. Something that offers a lot, maybe even an interactive house, like of Bill Gates'.

Dude, I am so fascinated with the tiny house movement. I also spent a considerable amount of time researching van-dwelling. I don't think I could ever be on board with a tiny house, but I am definitely going to try converting an old bus into a camper van one day. I really like the idea of minimalism. I just have so many hobbies and interests that it's relatively easy to amass a considerable amount clutter (WHICH I DETEST). I'm only seventeen though so I don't really have a lot of life experience on that type of thing.
