Hey, does anyone here other than me play Silent Hunter 3?

I only began fairly recently, about two weeks ago, but this game, the excellent forum at subsim.com, and of course the film Das Boot have all sparked in me a great interest in u-boats, and in WW2 in general (though I've always been interested in WW2). I ordered three books, and am now halfway through Iron Coffins, by Herbert A. Werner.

I'm running the GWX mod along with another 10 or so smaller mods, and I recently learnt manual targeting (perfecting it now, it'll take time). The SH3 Commander program is excellent as well.

The dynamic open-world campaign, historical relevance, abundance of mods, and problem-solving involved in hunting, manual targeting and plotting, and evading escorts makes for a very INTP-friendly game.

Good hunting Kaleuns :)

Love Silent Hunter 4. It is set in the Pacific theater of WWII, as opposed to the Atlantic, but is very similar in style. I agree that the problem-solving in maneuvering, hunting, and evading makes for a very INTP-friendly game. The historical relevance of it is great too, although there are parts that I question (6 torpedoes sink a carrier?). All-in-all, a fantastic strategy game.

Have also tried Silent Hunter 5, but didn't like it as much. The graphics are vastly improved from 4 to 5, but the maneuvering is iffy, and you're back into U-boats, as opposed to the American boats of 4. Therefore, you are much louder, less maneuverable, and generally slower. BUT, if you're used to the U-boat, you'll likely really enjoy 5...
