One atom of me
What if the purpose of our brain is to know. That knowing is the purpose of this machine we have then perhaps seeking knowledge is the meaning of life.
If meaning of life is to know.... the very question of what is to know is meaningless, because the cause of our being is to expand on knowlegde by means of knowing and using logic as a tool to maximise the purpose of our knowing.
The problems however I see are several.
First of all what is the meaning of knowing for the sake of knowing.
Expanding our knowledge base is probably perpetuated only by our own desires and wishes. What we want and what we like.
Here comes the fun part. What if we always perpetuate the knowledge base by wanting to know more. Therefore wanting to know more means we will have to have a purpose in life because there is no knowledge without purpose.
Lets think of it as if we are catching fish and the fishing rod is knowledge. The purpose of the fishing rod is only in case fish exist and in case we want to catch the fish. Therefore the whole burden of our existence is on knowing.
Now I know that people do not live only for the sake of knowledge, but there are other reasons, but what if the aim to know more is the very thing that frees people from living a pathetic life thus stops them from doing things without knowledge.
Not sure if this makes any sense.
