What kind of career do you want?

I find it creepy how similar a lot of these responses are... to one another and to my aspirations. That points to one solution in my mind: pick almost anything and commit to it. I feel I require some kind of working community or partner to spark my enthusiasm though.

Today I decided I want to be a television writer. I love coming up with stories and watching television. When I am watching my favorite show I usually find myself asking 'what if this happened?' and then writing stories (fanfiction) about 'what if this happened', so I might as well do it professionally and make money for it. I actually did some research to find out what takes, and apparently I would start out as a staff writer, or an intern and then work my way up from there. in order to get started I need to write a spec. script and send it around to agents/managers. The one thing I love about this idea is that it doesn't require any sort of degree, so I can do it while still pursuing a career in a more stable line of work.

of course, last week I was absolutely convinced that I want to be a lawyer, so I have no idea how far I will actually go with this idea. I am seriously considering taking a screenwriting class next semester though.

I can't think of any career I'd actually enjoy beyond a few years: I'd get bored too quickly. But my ego wants me to cure cancer, AIDS, cerebral palsy, or expand human life, stop aging: something big to affect human life... So, I'll probably go into med school. Assuming I fix my GPA soon enough.

For the first 15 years of my life, I wanted to be a doctor. Broad term, but that narrowed to surgeon, then changed to psychiatrist, then to psychologist...

And now I'm going to be going to school to be a high school English teacher. I'm hoping to eventually be AP/Gifted certified and be able to teach those classes, and maybe a psychology course. I won't have much extra time, but in the little time I will have, I want to publish a book of short stories.

I guess I'm idealistic underneath all my usual pessimism...

For many years, I used to wish to become a pre-school teacher. I love kids, and I want to play with them all day, and teach them all little thing they need in their future life.
But things may happen. Now I'm studying economics. I chose that major just because my mom and dad want me to have a bright future. Now I'm so confused

i don't really want a job. but, that's not how it works.

i will be some sort of artist. most likely a animator or game artist. and i prefer 3d art.

I want to try poverty but I fear it. I want to have access to interesting information.

I will then choose to be a millionaire with access to a significant amount of information whilst being a beggar in the street. I will live a humble materialistic life, and an extravagant informational life.

No, I actually do not want that. I want to live the life of trying to live a life. Actually, that is what is now when motivation is at 0. A life of purpose is my dream.
