are you at home in a crises situation?

or

do you believe that slow and steady wins the race?

what about quiet vs loud environments?

group dynamics or solo success?

where do you thrive in life?

i seem to do my best work in a crisis situation of some sort. my cluttered mind clears and with luck i can be as precise as a surgeons scalpel. ofcurse when you add me working in a group i tend to fail. from my few years of life, i have noticed that most of the people around me seem to panic in a crises. i on the other hand dont panic. i get confused depending on how fast the crises progresses but my mind more often than not catches up quickly and if it dosent my physical reflexes kick in. from what ive seen most people just panic and argue. i would be a fantastic crises leader if i wasent do damn indipendent and annoyed by people.

what about you? i enjoy hearing your opinions and insights.

In a crises situation I watch and wait until people are ready to listen to reason or have solved it themselves. More often than not people are able to solve their own problems, after a panicked three stooges routine. Otherwise I'm already waiting, phone in hand, for a break in the commotion to suggest calling emergency services.

Medical emergencies may require an immediate response,
Fires are a good example where I can sit back and watch the show for a bit,
Most everything else doesn’t require an intervention.

Physical reflexes?
You mean the "take cover, it's going to explode" reflex... yep, got that.
The "duck before it hits you in the head" reflex... that one, I don't have.

Crisis situation, definitely. I procrastinate until the last minute, then sudden clarity sets in as I find the organizational structure I need, or when someone, say, falls down the stairs and breaks a bone, I'm the one reminding people that there's 911 if the hospital number doesn't work. Given time to think about things, I flail with stress until the time of crisis. XD

Group/Solo: Solo; I can't stand trying to get a hold of people, let alone make sure everything is smooth, but at the same time, I want to know everything and don't like simply being told what to do. Doing projects alone is easier since it removes both issues.

Quiet/Loud: Quiet. I like being able to think without distractions. ^^

With the crisis/ slower pace question, it seems to me that with the P preference as well as Ne- and the stabilizing effect of the more linear T thoughts?- perhaps INTPs in general are likely to be rather good at quick thinking in a crisis... What do you think about the role of the actual functions?

I'm not good with crises, so I'll go with slow and steady, although I can be quite spontaneous when stress levels are low.

Quiet environments are best, unless the noise is wanted, like with good music.

Solo is usually better unless that group is feeding me ideas without stifling my progress/lack thereof.

Lost, after wandering irresponsibly away from the
The less time I have to do something, the more diligent I'm likely to be when I'm doing it; I suppose, then, that I thrive under crisis conditions (although it's more accurate to say that I'm actually pathetically lazy when I'm expected to work at something consistently). I work all right with background noise, as long as I can ignore it: sharp, sudden noises unnerve me no matter how loud or quiet they are. I always wind up working on my own-- even if I'm in a group, I wind up being the only one who works. On some days I wind up yelling at my "teammates", and on others, I just see it as a fair trade off for not having to talk to them.

Funny. Things have blown up near me while I'm doing experiments, without me flinching at all ('Oh darn. This sounds like something I'll have to clean up'). Still, I'm paranoid about snowballs, and perform well on the dodging part of dodgeball.

I work best in crises but I don't like them because other people in the crises annoy me with their panicking and/or micro-managing. I also prefer solo work or working with close friends and usually quiet or some background music.

I am kind of similar I guess in that I like it when things are tough. I am expected to look and keep busy at my work even when it's quiet, and I am terrible at that, I pretty much can't do it. But when it's actually busy, and there's heaps to be done, I come into my own. I like tasks and projects where the task is defined by a set of things that need to be done, not keeping busy doing as much as I can for a set amount of time. In other words, I much prefer being given a task and being told, "do it as quick as you can", rather than "keep busy for the next hour". I like to set records and compete against myself, and you cant do that in the latter.
