Basically, I can hear this all the time:
Old people listen to radio. It broadcasts about health. Surprisingly, anyone who read Fuhrman books will understand that the ideas are great, also it enlightens on some scientific facts. Offers advice on exercising and diet which is again very similar to Fuhrman.
A response from elderly is babbling about how this is nonsense, how doctors only want to take money from them and put them on medication.
Why people offer their opinion which is not correct, useless and encourages laziness? What right do they have to say something about the subject they have no idea about?
This is very disappointing and the main reason why so many people go to discussion forums for advice and usually get BS which may endanger their health. Also anyone who read about health on media can see the controversy between "oh fruits are bad" and "you won't get enough protein without these foods" .
We are controlled. Or, most are controlled, their thoughts are enslaved to some constant flow of misinformation which is then passed from grandparents to fathers. My close friend is a victim of this approach. Somehow, her rich aunt got an idea that if a child does not eat much then she is going to grow up small and tiny. My friend suffered from this approach, constantly fed with sweets, cookies and other trash foods. Now she is vegan and encouraged me to try it out.
So, back to the topic, how do you shield yourself from misinformation? You may think it is true what you read from good sources but how do you know? Discuss
