I hardly drink or smoke outside social situations, so I feel like I'm appropriating this, but the vibe is what matters
Interesting. It does indeed speak for itself even without lyrics. A guy toying with the idea of self-medicating, he starts thinking alcohol might be his type of lover. Its playful, an underlying danger as he pushes for another. He's not given into the idea of total self-destruction just...yet, but heavily considers it the more he partakes. She's a lullaby to him. Eventually she will destroy him, but its the only love he knows anymore. Its a real "fuck it, fuck everybody" But also a relapse.

Whereas something like this is another form of addiction to a lover/friend. Aka, a different drug. Love/Hate relationship well established.
Yes, I do see it as a way of paying respects to a past version of myself. Alcohol is fitting because it is a depressant for a mind that cares too much about certain things. The awareness of this addiction and choosing the comfortable choice is not something that the vocals has learned to temper, and perhaps they don't want to. Hence it is a lullaby much like you would sing to a child.

Speaking of Three Days Grace, here might be why

Brutal movie worth watching....
Damn the number of people who would beg for burger and vituperate you for being closed... or standing outside and having a chill smoke was insane.
Some people would rather lose dignity than not get a burger...sad

every time I see this title I think of roman punishment of being clubbed to death for breaking discipline.... not sure that is actually what the title means....

Thumbs up to the Adam Freeland 'We want your soul' video.
I was just wanting a hamburger too.

Shaolin Buddha Finger! : )

I love Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey and the Who in general:
These two have tempos that keep changing, fast, slow, slower?

Anyway, I love the symbolisms and sounds in most of the Who's songs.

This one is a classic, good and memorable:

Some songs are just funny. I did not like Shaolin Buddha Finger at first. But then I listen to it over and over again and its insanely good. Acquired taste.
I think there is lot of freedom in listening to songs passively and having to interpret them our way.
Dance music has limit that too can have something going.

I don't really drink except holidays, but...

I never drink in the afternoon
I never drink alone
But I sure do like a drink or two
When I get home

Let me tell you what I do
I sit here in this chair
I pour myself some whiskey
And watch my troubls vanish into the air

Chorus
Rollin', rollin'
Ain't gonna worry no more
Rollin', rollin'
Ain't gonna worry no more

Used to worry about gamblin'
Throwin' my money away
Used to worry about wastin' time
And layin' round the house all day
But I'm all right now
I'm all right now
I never thought I'd make it
But I always do somehow
I'm all right now

White House Blues

McKinley hollered , McKinley squalled
Doc said “McKinley I can’t find the cause
You’re bound to die, you’re bound to die
Doc told the horse, he’d throw down his rein
He said to the horse you gotta outrun this train
From Buffalo to Washington
The doc came a-running, he took off his specs
Said “Mr Mckinley better cash in your checks
You’ve bound to die, you’re bound to die
Look here, you rascal, you see what you’ve done
Shot down my husband and I’ve got your gun
I’m carrying you back, to Washington
Well, Roosevelt’s in the White House, doing his best
McKinley’s in the graveyard taking his rest
He’s gone, for a long time

I dreamed about Ray Charles last night
And he could see just fine
Dreamed about Ray Charles last night
And he could see just fine you know
I asked him for a lullaby
He said "Honey I don't sing no more"
No more no more no more
Ray don't sing no more
He said "Since I got my eyesight back
my voice has just deserted me.
No 'Georgia On My Mind' no more
I stay in bed with MTV."
Then Ray took his glasses off
And I could look inside his head
Flashing like a thunderstorm
I saw a shining spider web
Spider web
Spider web
Spider web
In Ray Charles' head
I dreamed about Ray Charles last night
He took me flying in the air
Showed my own spider webs
Said, "Honey, you had best take care.
The world is made of spider webs
The threads are stuck to me and you
Be careful what you're wishing for
'Cause when you gain you just might lose"
You just might lose your
Spider web
Spider web
Spider web
What Ray Charles said
When you're feelin' lonely
When you're hidin' in your bed
Don't forget your string of pearls
Don't forget your spider web
When I go to sleep tonight
Don't let me dream of brother Ray
No, no, no, don't
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he sees
Just like him best the other way
Spider web
Spider web
Spider web
What Ray Charles said
In Ray Charles head
All I got's my spider web
Keepin' me alive
c'mon Ray

Can't remember if I have shared this song or not, but I totally dig the classic rock vibe these guys have as a relatively new band.

When I was six years old (before the Internet), my parents called the local radio show and had them play this, my favorite song at the time, on my sixth birthday.
