I haven't kept up with the thread at the moment. Yeah, i remember feeling a little irked only for the reason you mentioned (I think you have some legitimate gripes but also blew off any potential positives), but like you also guessed, I basically shrugged it off and moved on, it's just a forum thread. But no worries -- just send me a new balloon and all will be well!

I'm back to my second childhood, with almost all my kids gone now (graduated / schooling / work)... at least as far as free time goes. I remember a lot of things being off my list while I was raising them, there just wasn't time.

I read The Silmarillion in fifth grade, then launched into LotR and The Hobbit. I only really liked the first movie (extended edition), but still love Tolkien and have a number of other books (his Letters are interesting). I have many of the books his son Christopher edited from his notes, tracking the LotR writing process.

I usually prefer the elf name (Mithrandir) or his Maiar name Olórin.

aw bummer. Some people do have it turned off or restricted to Contacts/Friends. Too bad. So are you a fan of Tolkien from the movies or the books or both?
