Hello folks

I just saw Fusion_Knight's "sneaking back" (but not very sneaky) post. I'm doing the same thing. Like him, I didn't leave for a reason. I wasn't mad at anyone, and I hadn't done anything spectacularly stupid. I had gotten a good chance to observe other folks with my personality type. It seemed some goal I didn't even know I had was fufilled. Other interests eventually took precedence.

I wasn't aware of any reasons for my decision to come back, but two proximal events are probably involved. My (now ex-) girlfriend is in the middle of moving out, and I've just re-entered school to get my MS in Counseling. The first leaves me in need of some company and the second rekindles an interest in my own psyche.

I'm glad to see that some of the posters that I knew are still here. That and the INTPness joke. Thanks for having me back.

Thank you, IB. I'm feeling at home already, especially after I read a few other returnee posts and realized that it's common for us to lose interest in something (this community) that fascinated us just days ago. It's an useful reminder that all those traits in the INTP profile are there and active, whether I realize it or not.

Thank you very much for the bats.

...

Right on, flow! Of course, I changed my mind a few times on the way to this decision. It's an odd mix with my bachelor's in IT and my MBA. I hope to eventually write a book about ethically and effectively managing people. I'll begin my evaluation class at the end of this month. 60 credit hours, and 600 hours of internship. This is going to be almost as much work as the bachelor degree was.

Why did you decide on Counseling?

Idk, I've just always wanted to be a counselor of some sort. I feel I'm best at listening to people, and objectively finding solutions to their problems.. or at least mindsets for them to help them cope. I've been a 'counselor' all my life, I love giving advice.. and I can't think of a better way to spend my time. I'm still finishing up my BA right now (sociology), but I know a BA won't be enough if I want a real job, so getting a masters in some form of counseling (aren't there various categories?) seems like the best plan of action.

Well I already have my Master's in Counseling/Human Relations. It is an interesting if not so rewarding financially field...

I too remember you... Didn't you antagonize me once or twice?

Hello Blob

I have no idea if I teased you. I'd have to re-read my old posts, and even then, I might have a different opinon about what went on. Please accept my apologies, if I acted ... well ... like an INTP. Sometimes I'm impulsive and/or socially awkward. It was probably my fault.

It's cool that there are other folks here in this line of work. It's going to be my focus for the next three years; seeing others who are either working toward it or have achieved the degree might help to keep me going.

Ah, Doubting Thomas - I remember ye and your mountain well. You weren't on the forum for very long and that was a pity. Welcome back. :)

By the by - in your absence you missed considerable amounts of drama which may be about to resurge... This being instigated by another returning individual... It's nothing special - don't let it worry you. :p

Oh, goody. I do love a tad bit of drama, so long as I can stand to the side and not get dirty. I'll read the older posts and catch up. Thanks for the welcome and the heads up.

Well, thank you! I'm not at all sure if I'll be accepted to the program yet. I understand there are three weeks of training and then another three weeks of evaluation. If you don't make the cut, you can't try again for another six months.
