So, I have lurked and observed this forum for quite some time now. I suppose I thought it was time to actually make an account and participate in some of the interesting discussions and sharing of ideas I have seen on here.

My interest in intpforum started after I took several personality tests, testing as ISTP first (left a lot of answers blank), then INTP. I believe I tested as ISTP first because I have always been good with my hands and have good mechanical skills. One of my greatest interests is cars. I also tested a few times as INTJ but most of all I have tested as INTP. After researching the cognitive functions of both types and seeing the habits of INTJ personalities (and reading their forums) as well as the INTP forums I concluded that I was INTP.

Since I decided I was INTP, I have always searched Google when I had an idea or question followed by "INTP". It was a little creepy how many times my exact thought had been started as a thread by someone else. However, now I remind myself of all the ideas I can't recall since I was too lazy to register and start threads of my own.

Perhaps I will stay here for some time, and not forget to come back and post...

Re: Hello

Thanks, and I know I have seen that quote before somewhere. It always leaves me in deep thought about how it fits my world.

Yes, it belongs to the same class as squids (cephalopods). It's called a cuttlefish. Really interesting creatures.

Yes, I've been lucky enough to spot them when snorkeling. Curious things indeed. One minute they just sort of appear out of nowhere, and the next moment they're gone -- lightning fast. And they blend into the background so much you only see their eyes hanging there looking at you :D

....just beware of our chief cephalopod, (Ctul)Kuu -- best not to get your tentacles in a knot with that lurking around the place -- it may pounce

Welcome AquaTron. Care to share some more information about yourself with us? Studies, job, interests, hobbies... I have recently joined too, and I am interested in how many traits and things all INTPs have in common.

Welcome AquaTron. Care to share some more information about yourself with us? Studies, job, interests, hobbies... I have recently joined too, and I am interested in how many traits and things all INTPs have in common.

Well I was studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, however I have gone a little off track. I'm still taking classes and enjoy learning. I have a job in the food industry I've had since high school. I cook food. Go on autopilot. Think about everything else while I'm there. Recently I have been searching for a new job. I enjoy music and have worked on getting some DJ gigs. I was recruited by an acquaintance from school in a DJ company. I mostly get to sit in a booth on my own and play music. Talking on a mic has been the worst part for me but it hasn't been too bad and has helped me overcome my fear of public speaking.

Well, as for interests I have many. It might be easier to say what I'm not interested in... :D
I like to read and learn new things. I mostly use the Internet for this but I'm looking for some good books as well. Lately I have been interested in psychology, the personality types, and the cognitive functions.
My physics professor got me interested in Electricity, Magnetism, and Light (Physics II). However, the one thing I have been interested in all my life has been mechanics, and more specifically cars. I have worked on a few myself, and I'm always thinking of new ideas. I have also raced a few myself. I also was interested in programming however never really got deep into it. I did take a course in high school and was far ahead of the class. My teacher noticed this I believe and let me get away with a lot. For example I made a while loop that went on forever, and kind of just had the effect you would see in the matrix with all the random numbers moving down. It would take up a lot of memory. Well I saved this to the submission folder and froze everyone's computer.
Nobody in class knew what happened. The teacher realized and was able to remove the file after a couple minutes. Dismissed it as an "accident" with a little grin on their face.

As for traits INTPs have in common... There are many I would assume. We are all quiet and thoughtful. We like to learn, and people sometimes have a hard time grasping our ideas. Have you ever tried telling an xSFx about one of your thoughts?
Behaviors and habits are different for every individual. We all have different interests and hobbies too. Although I do see a lot of us INTPs have the same interests.
