Just wanted to introduce myself!

I'm currently an undergrad, studying music. This has tested my in ways I never thought it would. What's become clear: the more I study music, the more I (desperately) miss science and math.

As for joining this site, I've lately become more interested in exploring my INTP-ness. I think it's a pretty valid description of my personality, and I hope that I can learn from similar-minded people here.

Perhaps a change of majors is in order, then?

Hi christina64,

Actually music is math, but with prettier sounds :D. I think it's something that bridges thinking and feeling.

Thanks for the words of welcome! :)

I know that music is extremely mathematical--I've only got one more semester of theory, after all! Nonetheless, I think I miss meeting people who are more drawn to science/math.

I've spent most of my time in class listening to professors and peers discussing solely the emotional aspects of music--of everything, really. I just need some cynicism in my life!

Many of the issues I have exist because my school isn't a good fit. I can't transfer now because I'm too far along; I always knew I could just stick it out.

I still want to and will pursue music. Unlike my classmates, though, I don't see the pursuance as profound...

So you say you want cynicism? Unfortunately for you, you've come to the right place.

I get you completely - I need a balance in my life. If I go too scientific with physics and maths, I crave creativity. If I spend too much time dancing and reading fiction, I need non-fiction: my history and philosophy. Then too much of that, and I neeeeeedsssss my science and maths, ha ha.

You don't have to change subjects, read a science book and find a club to discuss some of the themes. It is all about balance - you obviously can't spend as much time on music as other interests as your education is important, but excluding them isn't healthy for your state of mind.
