My best guy friend is an ISFP.

I know how it says that we are supposed to be "complete mysteries" to each other and what not, but we actually relate on almost every aspect of life.

Our interests are very different, but anyways, I think we have a lot in common when it comes to how we feel about things.

Soo.. I think I kind of like him. He's not really my "type", but he is my best-friend, and I love him. I could definitely see us together.

I'm just curious if any of you have had a INTP - ISFP relationship or how compatible you think we'd be as a couple.

Do what you want to do, but know that hanging out with each other is not the same as depending on each other.

Weird.. My best friend is also an ISFP of the opposite sex.
We dated a few years back, but that ended (not badly).
She wants to marry me... And I'm considering it.

None of the my friends are the type to care even slightly about the MBTI, nevermind enough to take the test.

why not just type them yourself? MBTI is a very simple system it’s not hard to type people without the tests.

(your friends are probably ESTJ's or the like)

Similarly, my friends say "Oh, cool" when I mention it to them, but no one seemed to want to understand it. And my typings are biased and thus inaccurate.

I don't like to label people, especially not without their consent.

But you still do don't you? "stranger", "attractive" "ugly" "nice dresser" "nice person". It's all subconscious.

You pointing out my subconscious mistakes doesn't instill a greater desire to make them consciously.

What I mean is that you do it anyway, it's natural, so why is it so wrong to label them deliberately?

Also subconscious labeling isn't a mistake. It's a necessary process for survival.

Labeling is arrogant in that it implies your belief that with your entirely limited knowledge you can accurately pigeonhole someone. That is why it is a mistake. At the very least, it would be a mistake to do it consciously.

Tangent, but interesting one--start a new thread? If it wouldn't derail, I'd add my $0.02.

Unfortunately, I've nothing for the OP except for this broad, basic knowledge: typology is far from everything. If you think it'll work, don't let ol' Isabelle and co. stop ya'.

Further than that, most of us can't tell you much, considering the information you gave us is so sparse. It amounts to this:

We're types that are supposedly incompatible.
But what it says about us doesn't feel true for us.
I could see myself with him/love him/he's my best friend.
Are we compatible?

Compatibility, unfortunately, takes a lot more data to determine. But it sounds like you've got a shot.

Go go gadget nitpicking.

What about temporary labeling for the situation at hand?

You should be careful about pointing fingers when your own hands are dirty.

However, I believe the action you are asking about is not so much labeling as it is making a situational assessment. Labeling is different in that it is something more permanent and definitive, whereas in making an assessment you are, to the best of your ability, analyzing what information you have in order to decide on a course of action for the moment at hand.

In order to label you need to assess, they are consecutive, so you always do both at a time.

Btw, I meant me. :phear: Someone's feeling self-centered. :D
