INTP/ISTP question...

Hi All,

A question has been bugging me for a bit, can a person be both a INTP and ISTP?
My test results came back as INTP ( only 3 points on N) but after reading alot of material the ISTP also fits me.

What you need to figure out is whether you use Ne-Si or Se-Ni, very big difference.

This is like a plague.

Chances are 10x more likely that a given individual is ISTP than INTP, all other variables equal.

Your test result says nothing on how you perceive the external world.

I'm sure you can readily identify yourself as Ti-dominant?

Think about the way you gather information ... is it focused and concrete? When you look externally for data, does the input reach your consciousness in a structured and realistic way?

ISTP profiles are full of stereotypes, worse than INTP profiles IMO.

Any Google search of ISTP v. INTP will give you hours of reading on the subject, you will find that hundreds before you have already posted.

To answer Mont's question I would say I use a scattershot method of info gathering. Take a look at the big picture, see what is working and not working compared to the problem and choose the closest possible solution then work from there.

No you can't, other than the fact that every person contains all functions and all letters. We just have different strengths and weaknesses.

ISTP and INTP are close cousins. You probably are an ISTP. One way I have of quick checking the difference is that INTP's have a penchant for theory, while ISTP's have a penchant for action. If a person isn't sure, but they like sports then they are probably ISTP. If they hate sports they are probably an INTP.

I do dislike sports, but I like things like diving and fencing. But basketball, football or soccer... blah. (Is a single person sport an issue vs team playing sport?)
I also like good long talks about a myriad of subjects. Meta-physics, all sorts of techs and sciences, social issues and the long term effects of personal choices.

INTP: TI NE Si Fe

ISTP: Ti Se Ni Fe
