First off, the Title was an attempt to making an INTJ joke. So yes, It's meant sarcastic :D

I thought, why not share this 'discovering' situation.

I was standing outside and I saw a boy (kid) with his father walking on the pavement. When they passed me, the kid looked at me. You could say, we sort of had an I and I connection (Kids don't tend to make disgusting presumptions, and nor Do I). The father noticed that And put his hand on the kid's shoulder, every time the kid tried to turn his head and look at me (Which was quite often) the father would deny him by the usage of his hand on his shoulder.

:: I did not stare at the kid nor paid excessive attention to them. I just looked a bit around as I normally did and noticed the previous described situation.

Solely from this I'd say the kid 'contains' Fe ( Dominance of Ti) and the Dad 'contains' a dominance of Te. (With Dominance I mean, To be the dominant judging function)
->If you'd think that is an unfair conclusion, I'd appreciate your clarification.

How old was the kid?

And why do you assume it was his father? Might have been his pet pedophile, though the over-protective gesture would probably be identical for either.

You live in the US? It's a possessive, paranoid society, and children are perhaps the greatest recipients of these influences.

I can remember back to my childhood in the late '70's and early 80's. Back then we played on the streets unattended with relative impunity.

How many unattended kids do you see out in public nowadays?

When The Red Menace was slain, a new boogyman had to be recruited. Shame it's you, the common Joe.

I live in the Netherlands. The kid was about 10? (I don't quite remember personal information about the two such as age.)
Could have been his pet pedophile, but I didn't feel like that was the case.

Since we don't know much about you - age, appearance, demeanor - it is difficult to judge whether the presumed parent was reacting appropriately.

On a tangent: Eye contact is engagement. Sometimes the best course is to avoid it completely. It's why you can walk down a crowded street in New York City and never make eye contact with a single person: The urban paradigm is that with millions of people, random eye contact will engage you, sooner or later, with someone dangerous and initiate unwanted further contact.

Why engage with an unknown quantity? Why allow your child to engage with a complete stranger?

It isn't necessarily teaching them to fear. It's teaching them caution, which is not a bad thing.
