Simple. Most people listened to commercial crap back then as well, but refuse to admit it now.

but Stupid Hoe references Portia de Rossi, therefore it is better

oh, and also, to expand the scope of the comparison

Mozart - 1782 said:
Leck mich im Arsch g'schwindi, g'schwindi!
Leck im Arsch mich g'schwindi.
Leck mich, leck mich,
g'schwindi

translates roughly to:

Lick me in the ass, quickly, quickly!
Lick me in the ass, quickly
Lick me, lick me
quickly

As Fukyo demonstrates, popular music is obviously going in circles. But can it go anywhere else? Should it go anywhere else? Is it proof of an arrested development, or proof that certain archetypes are universal?

The Australian comedy group Axis of Awesome does a bit with 4 chord songs. I recommend YouTubing it. There is nothing new under the sun.

Frankly, I mean, sometimes the interpretations I've seen on some of the songs that I've written are a lot more interesting than the input that I put in.-- David Bowie

We all know that it's all subjective. Some like this, some like that.
"good" music to me is about the artist(s). If they do it with 'soul' if they do it because they enjoy making music and not because of the results of making music (money, fame, material goods like cars, houses etc.) And from that perspective I can acknowledge a lot of music as "good" even though I do not like it.
I can also call a lot of music bad.

But in the end, I don't truly know if Lady Gagam Britney Spears, Jonas Brothers etc. Are doing it for fame and money. They could be doing it because of passion.. Doubt it then, hence I think their music is "bad".
