I just came back from a rather harrowing 1-day workshop as the resource person (rather than the guy handling the photos/ minutes) on another University. I was shit-scared most of the time (especially during the actual teaching of the techniques) since I'm working with unfamiliar academics and a PhD-lawyer (double the intimidation, fortunately he's nice) is monitoring me silently in the sidelines. Fortunately, Archie's and Jenny's empowering the audience/shifting responsibilities advice worked well. I just teach them some new technique and let them try it out afterwards. All I have to do is walk into a particular group of audience, say "hey, why not focus here?" or "your team is getting closer to the answer" and they did the rest.

Anyways, I think this article might also help other INTP's being in an out of their depths situation like I did. It helped me ease into the audience and the staff's good side. ENTP's might find it easier to adapt though.

Basically it uses Ne's ability to bullshit charm their way in and Ti-Si's capability for research and analysis. Honestly, this guide won't help you charm your way to other people overnight. It needs a lot of work especially on the research part but it may pay dividends. I researched and then mentioned some facts about their University to their driver and he offered me a tour of their large University for free.

Good job.

Sadly, this is why they keep trying to make me a part of management though I fight it tooth and nail.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I really prefer doing technical stuff rather than managing people.

My bosses seems to like throwing me at weird shit, wait for me to establish some template or system and then send the rest. (not that I mind, it keeps me on my toes) What's with xNTP's and weird shit?

I completely agree with the aforementioned article, I was actually listening to a podcast interviewing FBI agents former and present. Everyone of these tactics is mentioned when it comes to working undercover and being places you shouldn't be. There is a great deal of scientific research if you go deeper into this topic and it's highly fascinating.http://www.artofmanliness.com/2011/...eing-out-of-your-depth-6-tips-from-a-con-man/

That sounds interesting. Any links for these podcasts/ other articles?

Well it's really hard to reference as one is a 56 episode podcast and lots of these ideas are spread across the episodes and the introductions before the guest speakers are often about different topics which you probably wouldn't be interested in.

That said if you were to google Robin Dreeke I am sure you will find articles on building rapport, elicitation, pretexting...

If you have a lot of time on your hands then the social engineering podcast (on iTunes) has on FBI ex-law enforcement guests, physical penetration testers (people that break into companies lockpick style) reporters that get information from people. Psychologists, that guy from The Hustle. Anon people that do identity theft and got on the show by finding out the social security number and information on the guy running the show... Polygraph interviewers.. Plenty of fun stuff.

The only draw back is that its mainly aimed at penetration testers(people that test company security by breaking it) and security so all the start and end before the interviews are generally about that and relevant events.

However after listening to it for some time it confirms pretty much everything in that article.

I'll check these info when I have the time.

BTW, is it Architect appreciation day or something? Everybody has an Architect avatar.
