A little experiment to test an idea.

Sorry for the vague options. Since this is testing a subjective viewpoint as much as a more objective one (is that possible in terms of stress though?).

I am assuming that most INTPs don't cry much? Please correct if this is wrong (and disregard this post in that eventuality).

I can act normal when under extreme stress, but that does not make the stress go away.

I found it difficult to classify my stress.
When I get "stressed" most of the time it is just a little nervous anxiety (once or twice a day).

As a child I recall crying quite often.
In the past eight years I have cried once...... and damn did it feel good.
I was actually quite ecstatic while crying, I couldn't believe I was crying at first.

But yea for the most part as an INTP I really don't cry.
Why?
Not sure really.

I am really big on patterns, by 17 I saw/experienced most of the common emotional hang-ups people have.
Instead of trying to work a way through these problems, I simply have opted out.
I opt out of a lot of things just to avoid the future problems.

Its not that I am a cold robot (everyone gets that impression) rather I think I am overly effected by emotion and have chosen opt out rather than be negatively influenced.
This drives every woman who came close INSANE.

Stress affects me in a very bodily way. It usually doesn't manifest itself with any difference in behavior but there is usually a change in my body when stressed for example loss of appetite and less sleeping. Beside that I'd say I'm pretty stoic.

Stress makes me laugh and feel sleepy. It didn't used to though. No, no I used to curl up on a ball and practically break down.

It all changed when I went head first down a concrete flight of stairs and smashed my head on a wall at the bottom. After that I've been far more laid back in my approach to tasks and life in general.

:D! Prompt replies make me unreasonably happy.

Well, I was reading about different types of crying the other day, and they mentioned that crying facilitates the release of certain chemicals which are the product (or cause) of stress. And given the correlation between an INTP tendency to not cry as much, with the results gathered so far (75% low to moderate), it seems to work.

Interesting website. The Art of Manliness? Is there such thing? The colour-coding was interesting, but shouldn't different people execute different signs of stress?

I like the website. The "art" is more about learning about life and survival/practical skills rather than displays of machismo.

True. People react differently to stressful conditions. However, the body normally follow the same performance patterns depending on the heart rate so there might be a similarity of stress reactions.

Of course the color chart assumes that you will try to neutralize the stressor rather than avoid it through denial and procrastination.
