Really glad to be a part of this forum. I'll just use the template for these intros since I'm too lazy to construct something myself right now.

What is your name?

Jeremiah

Where are you from?

I am from Birmingham Alabama in the United States, currently living in Texas.

How old are you?

I am 23.

What's your gender?

Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I can't remember the name of the site I took the test on, but it was a 60 question test and that was the result I got. I took it on one other site and got the same result. I began (and continue, obviously why I'm here) to read obsessively about INTP and yeah.

How did you find out about this forum?

Just googling it. A youtuber made a video about INTP's I liked and she mentioned this forum.

Do you have a partner/lover?

No, and don't really have anyone closing in on that either, honestly.

Do you have any kids?

No.

Do you have any pets?

One, but he was my pet growing up and still lives (sounds weird using that word for an animal) at my moms house.

What is it that you do? Are you a student?

I'm a student, still. I really fucked up in College and have basically had to start over with a bag full of meaningless credits. A lot of this is changing majors combined with not studying. The bright side is that I am able to do so financially. I am studying environmental science because I want to work with animals ideally. I'm trying to get a job at the zoo right now. I'd like to work in Environmental Conservation, Animal Behaviorism, Zoology, or Energy & Technology management with a green company.

Got any hobbies?

Learning foreign languages (I'm a German minor), mountain biking, smoking weed, playing video games, watching lots and lots of sports, playing lots and lots of sports, being outdoors, learning about history (I'm obsessed with Nazi Germany) philosophy, physics, astronomy, and watching movies.

What genre(s) of music do you like?

I like Arctic Monkeys a lot.

Do you have a favorite book or genre?

I don't really like reading books I don't have the patience but I love to listen to science fiction audio books as I fall asleep.

Favorite cuisine or food? dislikes?

I guess my favorite would be sushi but I like a lot. For instance I am crazy about this Lebanese Restaurant in my town. I really really like watching Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares, but only the UK version.

After such an arduous path to your current position in the academic world I sort of feel awkward smacking you with unsolicited advice, but if you want to work directly with animals, Evi Sci probably isn't the way to go. It's a catch all major that produces a lot of oil company and DOT employees doing NEPA assessments, but not much else. Actually getting a job with that particular flavor of major is also much more difficult because the coursework isn't nearly as specialized. (e.g. Behaviorism is a... very small field, Conservation work is more suitable to Ecology & policy-oriented majors, hands-on work is more along the lines of Fisheries & Wildlife Biology and the veterinary sciences, and E&T management is more of an engineering type thing).

My B.S. is in Fisheries & Wildlife. The career targets tend to me more along the lines of the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Forest Service (as Field Biologists, not Foresters), and state wildlife agencies. The Wildlife community also has a much stronger professional networking infrastructure, The Wildlife Society being a great example (I've attended 4 national conferences thus far :smoker:).

Edward Abbey might be worth making an exception for. I never read, but I stayed up for 3 days straight reading The Monkeywrench Gang and Hayduke Lives!. You can't go wrong with an opening character who burns down billboards as a hobby. You just can't. :D

Using tapatalk sorry for any errors but we don't have such a specialized major otherwise I would consider it. I go to a prestigious school though, and I think once I get my foot in the door with an internship or customer service job at the zoo it will open a lot of doors for me. I don't forsee being hindered to much by a lack of specialization. Plus I can always do continued education after undergrad
