How do you type people?

Do you:

1) Go through E/I S/N T/F J/P and try to determine which one of each said person is

or

2) Try to work out their functions and what order they are in

If you did both, would you end up with the same result?

usually begin with MBTI dichotomies (cruder but faster method of elimination), then the functions.

You have to find the right context to use both methods?

If the I/E is easy to figure out, then so should J/P ... right? you just try and make note of their J function...

S/N and T/F might be obvious but probably are not, so I would really stick to the I/E and J/P first.

Then again, I/E can be very misleading...

They are going to use either Fe or Te those are fairly easy to watch for.

Se is quite obvious to the outside. Apparently Se-doms and Ni-doms can be confused because the grip experience of Se is supposedly just an all-out binge on the senses (food and drink, excessive volume/noise) and that can look like Se-dominance to people. (Every time I think about this I drift back to xNTJ)

I'm starting to get a better picture of Ne and how to spot it.

Admittedly I'm bad at typing.

I start off with an observation - "XXX is cold and logical, and is very forward and driven in arguments"

I then compare this with both the functions and the dichotomies. I'll first look over their dichotomies and then come up with several possibilities, invariably coming to the conclusion that dichotomies are largely stupid. Then I look for Te or Fe, and inevitably Ne or Se. I then compare these conclusions to the other possibilities.

Once I have a best fit I look for the introverted functions that complement these. Having access to the top two extroverted functions will give you a road map to their first four.

I am then satisfied. Once I have identified the moving parts I see little purpose in placing them ordinally. If I am not certain, I leave that person as undiagnosed. I am yet to determine my own type.

4. Attention to detail interior/exterior vehicle, their work area, hair style or the condition of their shoes
5. Do they talking in possibilities or do they want firm conclusions

By this time, will have a pretty good idea of the person's MBTI dominate functions

I can easily determine a person is T/F or P/J
because F and J people could easily irritates me (except INTJ) by their nature
