Or can you even reprogram your attention-span? I thought it would be an interesting experiment to go a week without music-youtube-games-movies. etc. lowering the sensory input and maybe lowering how much sensory input you need for something to be interesting enough to hold your focus.
Thoughts?

I've done it. I end up doing more chores and projects, but feel more restless and mentally bored. Makes having that stuff again really nice, especially with music; I'll listen to a song I've heard a 100 times and here new sounds, like my subconscious is temporarily more open to input or reinterpretation.

Not that long. It's the long-term lifestyle change that's challenging. Just remember that boredom is normal and circumventing boredom can be an impetus for either an addiction or an outlet (or both).

Meditation, brainwave entrainment, etc. I'd tell myself I was done with X waste of time, and my interest in it faded without much effort.
